OT: Steve Perry on non-existent "South Detroit"
A friend of mine posted this article on Facebook today, and since we as sports fans are so frequently subjected to this song, I thought I'd share.
A quick read, and fairly amusing. As my friend who posted it says...at least someone cared enough to talk to Steve Perry himself.

I heard a Journey interview years ago... they explained when they were just starting out, a radio station (perhaps WRIF, it's located nearby) near Southfield gave them a lot of airplay and the South Detroit line was a way of saying thanks.
If this is indeed the case, of course it opens up another line of discussion as Southfield is actually north of Detroit.
