OT - Stephen Colbert and the Olympics

Submitted by BigBlue02 on
Did anyone else see Bob Costas interview Stephen Colbert last night on NBC? I was almost crying when he got up to warm himself in the fake fire and then hopped in the fireplace. I can't wait to see all of his Olympic Shows next week.

The show was in its first year. Didn't take you very long... People either like Colbert's shtick or they don't. I suppose it could be an acquired taste, but I don't think it works the other way around. The idea that you "got tired of that guy" doesn't really pass the smell test. His character is a caricature and his show is satire. For people who find him funny, Colbert is a comedic genius who continues to innovate -- for people who don't find him funny, well, he's not. Regardless, Colbert's support for the U.S. Olympic team and his trip to Iraq last year were meant to transcend politics, and should be taken as such, at face value.
