Interesting, had a feeling that Ohio was gonna be his choice with Urban opening the spot up at the exact same time. I guess the two are unrelated. Huge get for the terps.
OT: Stefon Diggs to... MD??
Besides, Urban would have to find another criminal to cut in order to take Diggs.
Why would he even think about Ohio. Braxton will not do him justice in college.
Who doesn't dream of wearing a uniform that resembles the state flag of Maryland. I can only hope Michigan does the same thing in the future, I would love to see those deer on the helmet of Shane Morris.
It's a moose and an elk.
Damn, you are right.
I guess I never looked that close before, all I remember was antlers.
Well, technically you are right. They are deer.
What other state has a picture of animals fighting on their flag? None! Suck it Ohio...your flag is technically a pennant.
Go Fighting Elk!
Had a client in NC take me to one of their local HS football games. We got there a little after kickoff and had to park a ways from the stadium. While walking I hear the PA announcer say what sounds like first down _ucking Elks. The client can tell I'm shocked by this and says to me it just sounds like that from here the school's nickname is the Bucking Elks.
Shouldn't it be the "bucking elk?"
has a team called the Fighting Quakers. "Elks" is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
is a train wreck right now. Their QB is seriously thinking about transfering. A place called Looney's is the right place to announce going to MD if that happens.
(Per listening to 106.7) 22 players have left so far. The QB is graduating this spring and is reported to be leaving to do that Masters type deal.
He'd have graduated in three years if that's the case. He was only a redshirt sophomore this past season, right?
Guess that's what happens when you fire the conference coach of the year to hire the football coach from a basketball school. I think Friedgen put a curse on Maryland when he burned his diploma.
Yeah, that was a real dumb move. It's not like they fired Friedgen for Vince Lombardi either. Not surprised this isn't working out well.
If true ill take it. Really don't want to see him go to Ohio. He would be an amazing player for Maryland but they'll still be irrelevant.
Let's not just assume he's a lock for Maryland just because he's announcing in College Park. About a week ago Jeremy Liggins of Oxford, MS announced at a restaurant in the middle of Oxford Square that he was choosing LSU over Ole Miss. That is some mighty advanced trolling for an 18-year old.
Robin of Locksley is Maryland's coach? I could imagine his recruiting being top notch.
after what he's done at SFU with Big Will Scarlett and "Little" John.
lolz but no Mike Locksley former New Mexico coach and great recruiter (Vernon Davis)
Wow, Sir Locksley must be one hell of a recruiter to convince anyone to play in his offense. HAHAHAHA! 2-26 and sexual harassment claims (later retracted) all in one while at New Mexico.
Calling Stefon's parents, hello?
He definitely had a rough first year, but I think given time he's a pretty good coach and can turn Maryland around.
He did about as well as could be expected at UConn with absolutely no talent, and now he's in a much better recruiting hotbed with more tradition.
I saw Stefon and his teammate, Wes Brown, play in a playoff game in person and they seemed to have a tight connection on the sideline as good friends. Since Wes Brown committed to the Terps already, Stefon may have Wes in his ear to play with him so not only the pull of staying close to home is on Stefon's mind, but also the chance to play with a good friend for up to four years. Now obviously observing friendship from a sideline point of view with high school kids is something to take with a grain of salt, but I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me if Stefon did indeed pick the Terps tonight.
Go to Maryland, Stefon! Become a Terp.
Just have to wonder about some of these decisions... Best of luck to him.
Better there than in that state south of us.
Alex Kozan? Will he even play football in college?
Is a smoke screen...he is announcing his OV to UM this weekend, and flying later on today to AA.
Hello post to follow ....
thank god urban might lose out on at least one recruit this year
Wouldn't be surprised. There was some noise late in the process that MD would be his eventual choice.
No f-ing way this kid goes to Maryland. I'll be every person in this thread a steak dinner Diggs does not go to Maryland.
Wanted to reply to this so if he chooses Maryland you can't edit to back out of this bet haha
I better join the thread so I can see you be a steak
Yep, I too am just here for the free steak dinner.
I'm here for the gangbang?
As a Maryland fan who has continued to follow his recruitment I will gladly take you up on that bet. The reason diggs didn't announce on signing day was because he was going to visit MD that weekend and that was his last visit, all the chatter right now has the terps as his favorite and while I know MD is joke and edsall is a terrible coach MD currently has more players in the NFL than michigan so its not like going there is the end of his career.
According to the Alumni Tracker on CBSSports.com:
Maryland has 34 players currently in the NFL.
Michigan is listed as having 40.
This list only has michigan with 28 but I'd be happy to be wrong since i'm well a michigan fan. My post was mainly to point out that MD is actually near the top in terms of putting players into the nfl including a couple top 10 picks in the last few years, and just used michigan since I figured it would impress people here more.
I'll take my steak medium rare, please.
If you're busy being everyone else in this thread, who's going to be you? I'd like to nominate myself, since you're going to be me, I'll have a lot of free time on my hands. How about it?
I thought he said that he would be the steak and we could eat him.
Bloomin Onion then an 11 ounce outback special please. Unless you're in the Ann Arbor area, then I'd like to go to Knight's Steakhouse. TIA
that is all. Because we all know how enforceable bets are over the internet...
your generous offer. Which DC area restaurant?
I've preferred Charlie Palmer's thus far...Prime Rib is a little too stuffy for my tastes.
Medium Rare please. I also like French Onion Soup and Ceasar Salad with my steak.
They got our poor old friend and stuck him on our stae's flag. It apears DT was the killer
be every person on this thread, I'm pretty sure you have to get a consent form signed, or something like that..
On the maryland message board I read a bunch of Ohio fans keep posting about how terrible MD is and all the MD fans are just laughing because well, they are from Ohio. Its pretty funny.
I'm just here for the steak.
I used to work in athletics at Maryland, LOVED IT...hopefully Diggs goes there!
spelled UM wrong.
Maryland's another rival as far as I'm concerned but I don't care if Diggs goes there. I doubt they'll use him effectively. Locksley wasn't hired to be Maryland's OC because he's a good OC.
He can go to Ohio if he wants; it won't matter against the Michigan defense that's coming over the next half decade.
I'll take mine from Outback please!
I'm a Ruth's Chris guy. T-Bone.
walking distance from home and they let you bring your own wine (not that we need to perpetuate a stereo-type).
Banned dreadlocks. Discuss.
always manages to grab one or two guys that should NOT be playing there. Some guys like being a big fish in a small pond. Also, the campus is wonderful.
Diggs, Edsall, Locksley and Stefon's dad were sitting three rows in front of me at the Maryland-UNC basketball game last Saturday. A portion of the student section started chanting "we want Stefon" a few times and he stood and waved to acknowledge them. Maryland has also pulled in Wes Brown, his Good Counsel teammate at RB.
There is also a 2011 guy who transfered from NW to Maryland. He is supposed to be good friends with both Brown and Diggs.
They started chanting "Nate Britt sucks" when he chose UNC over them as well.
