OT: Sports-related bucket list

Submitted by Magnus on

I was thinking about my Bucket List the other day, and without getting into all the other items, I'm thinking specifically of sports-related goals anyone might have.  I have a few things I want to do:

- Visit every MLB city's baseball stadium.  This is hard because teams are always changing/moving and getting new stadiums, but so far I've been to stadiums for the Tigers, Rays, Cubs, Cardinals, Orioles, Angels, and Dodgers.  Obviously I have a long way to go.

- Dunk a basketball.  I can lay the ball in and grab rim, but not quite dunk.

- Bench press 300 lbs.  Just to say I did it.  I've had shoulder issues for a while, so it's taking me some time to build up to it.  But I'm getting closer and closer.

- Coach baseball.  I played it but haven't coached it.  Once football season is over, it's difficult to get motivated to spend my entire spring coaching, too.

- Become a head football coach.  I'm not ready yet, but I'd like to do that sometime down the road.

What sports-related items are on your bucket list?  I'll try not to steal yours, although I might have to if there's something good . . .

My sports bucket list isn't as vast as some others, but a few for me:

  • Once I get a job I would like to get back into football coaching.  I'm not in teaching/coaching as I used to be, so the best spot for me given my other responsibilities will probably high school assistant, but that's ok with me, I just love coaching.
  • I would like to see a game at Notre Dame.  Say what you want about how much you hate them, but that scene in Rudy when the dad says it's the most beautiful sight he's ever seen when he enters the stadium is how I feel everytime I enter the big house.  I'd like to see ND to compare.
  • I would like to attend a RR coached game where they win (this isn't a diss, it's just that I'm 0-3 under RR)
  • I hope to see a Rose Bowl (preferably with Michigan) at some point.
  • Attend a summer olympics
  • Bench 365+
  • Run a marathon (I'd like to run the one at Walt Disney World)

Rose Bowl/BCS?  Check - '98.

World Series?  Check - Rockies/Red Sox

F1?  Check - Detroit GP, way back in the 80's.  Watched from the Renn. Center.

Haven't been to a Stanley Cup final, but saw a Wings/Avs Conference championship game in Colorado.

My list:

1.  Tour de France.

2.  Monaco GP.

3.  Michigan hockey National Championship.

4.  See Augusta or Pebble Beach.

5.  Everest base camp (I don't want to climb it).
