OT - Speaking of awkward announcing....
"Here, Posey gets called for a hold, but if he had his hands a bit higher up on the breast plate, he'd be fine."
"Did you really just say 'breast plate'?"
"Yes."
"Uh..."
"It'a a pad that covers your breast."
"Oh, okay."
Nevermind that earlier, they were doing some kind of NASCAR promo, and one of the color guys asks, "Where's Pablo Montoya?" Griese says, "Probably out getting a taco."

During the UConn/WV game, one of the announcers gave Bill Stewart credit for recruiting Noel Devine.

not suprised

That was Griese with the uncomfortable, vaguely racist remark and Spielman talking about the breast plate (that man was born in the wrong century).

Surprising comment from Griese for a guy who lives in South Florida.
FWIW he did apologize at the end of the game, and someone has ALREADY updated his wikipedia page with both the incident and his apology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Griese

Yeah, there's nothing at all racist about that......

Everyone knows that race car drivers like tacos. Get over yourselves.

It's even funnier because Montoya is Colombian, not Mexican.

There is nothing racist about tacos...

Who cares.
It's a little cheeky, so what. Honestly, how is it racist to associate a cultural food w/ the culture that invented it?
At least he didn't say one of the following:
- Taking a nap.
- Applying for his green card.
- Mowing my lawn.

Call it oversensitive if you will but the ruling is out and Griese has been suspended by ESPN/ ABC for his 'taco' comment.
I have to admit the post-game apology was definitely a little awkward to watch.
