OT: Songs that always bring back a memory.

Just wondering of my fellow Michigan faithful... what songs give you a vivid memory? For me it's Headstrong by Trapt. Every time I hear it I get a mental image of the times my best friend and I would go offroading in his lifted Jeep behind our High School.

for me come from listening to my dad sing The Yellow and Blue just before each home game. I was just a kid then and didn't know the words but the song then and still today, gives me chills up my spine whenever I hear it. Sadly, my dad is 80 now with Alzheimers and doesn't go game much anymore. I have his season tickets and the pregame MMB stuff is still the stuff of legend to me. I get choked up just typing this.

1985 While playing baseball at Flint Southwestern, we had an away game at Pontiac Central. Our Pitcher that day, Chad Joslyn had a boombox cranking the hit single "Don't You Forget About Me" from the movie the Breakfast Club Soundtrack. All the way from Flint to Pontiac, Chad played that song over and over and over, singing and laughing. He pitched, we won 9-0. In between games Chad told me he felt sick. He collapsed. Emergency personnel arrived and worked on Chad in front of all of his teammates. His uniform was cut off, defibrillators were used to shock his heart, lots of injections, I heard a strange throat noise and noticed he lost control of bodily functions. The ambulance left. This was of course before grief counselors. We played the next game. We won, 12-0. After the game, the bus headed to the hospital when we were met by a police car. The police officer indicated Chad had died. That was the longest bus ride home ever, all of us crying. We went on to finish 25-5, winning the Flint City Championship, and Saginaw Valley Championship, including beating Jim Abbott. That songs still stirs deep emotions and memories of Both the ride to the game, witnessing the death itself, the ride home, and our accomplishments. I get goose bumps when I think of the irony. I have the memorial patch #19, team pictures, and my framed jersey in my office to this date. RIP CHAD

M -Wolverine, it was tragic. Thanks. Apparently, it was some cardiac adnormality/ failure, triggered/caused by a combination of the strenuous workout, drinking a cold beverage, and the stimulants caused by his chewing tobacco. (Or at least thats what they told us when we were 17)

Wow - that really took me back 25 years when I read your account of what happened that terrible day in the spring of 85'. I was on the JV team and rode the same bus with Varsity. I totally remember that song being played on the way to Pontiac - a short 1/2 hour ride from 12th street in Flint. I think I sat next to Bernard Cason and in front of Matt Kerouc and Tim Touhey on the way down, listening to that song the whole way. They dropped us off at the JV field and when we got on the bus after our game, we didn't know exactly what had just happened at the Varsity game, but we knew it wasn't good. I'll never forget when that police car pulled over our bus. Man, that gets me choked up too whenever I hear that song now. All these years I thought I was the only one who associated "Don't You Forget About Me" with Chad Joslyn. Thanks for sharing man! MTing - Straight out the Nitty Gritty City of Ef Ell I En Tee

My mother used to call from her room and have me play this over and over. I got so sick of it. But not her. She'd sit up there alone, just listening for hours. Just listening.

I think it was channel 2 that put freshman fab five video to this song back in 92 before the finals. Damn, that was some great footage with Howard yelling... "we gonna shock the world...I told you all...we gonna shock the world"
