OT: Soccer - US U-20 WNT Beat Nigeria, gets Rematch w/Germany in Final; MNT News

Submitted by I Bleed Maize N Blue on

The US U-20 WNT beat Nigeria 2-0 and will face defending champ Germany in the final on Sat morning (6:10 ET on ESPNU).

Nigeria had a great chance early when Francisca Ordega got behind the D on a long ball.  Bryane Haeberlin came out to challenge at the top of the box and got nutmegged, but the shot was just wide.

Morgan Brian was left unmarked at 22' and scored on a header off a cross from Mollie Pathman.

At 52' Desire Oparanozie almost equalized, but was called offside.

Kealia Ohai got the insurance at 70' after a nice pass from Samantha Mewis.

Germany was rude to host Japan, scoring the first goal at 57s, on the way to a 3-0 win.  So far they haven't given up a goal.  They beat the US 3-0 in group play.  Hopefully the final will be a good game and a better result for us.  Go USA!!!

Glad all that EPL drama with Dempsey is over so he can just play.  Lookin forward to seeing him September 7th on TV and September 11th in person.
