OT: Soccer Sunday!

Submitted by uncle leo on

Happy soccer Sunday to my fellow fans out there!

Man City and Arsenal are currently 1-1 in OT in the FA Cup. Love hearing Martin Tyler call a game. For me, him and Ian Darke are the two voices of international soccer.

Alexis getting that goal in extra time could seal it, it's a shame that because Arsene Wenger is a crochety old man that he wants to leave for a different club. I think what has surprised me this year is that we were expecting Manchester United and Manchester City (under Mourinho/Guardiola) to compete for a Premier League title but between the two clubs there might be a total of one EFL Cup, a Europa League title and two Champions League places (The latter for MCFC.) Another weird year in EPL but I guess Chelsea really is a cut above the rest.

Is to get to England and see one of these games, ANY game, don't care what teams.

I just want to get up at 4:30 AM and go to some random English pub and soak in the atmosphere.

It's amazing! I took a Michigan scarf to a pub across the street from Anfield in Liverpool. Somewhere in that pub there's some maize and blue. One of the best experiences of my life even though Liverpool lost on that day.

I was in London for the 2012 EuroCup and it was an unforgettable experience.    I went to pubs for all the England games, and I remember England playing France and they had to have police inside the bar to seperate the France fans (the few that were there) from the England fans.

To visit some friends abroad, I would just mill around the stadiums and find scalpers with tickets and haggle them down, I managed to see 3 matches in 5 days, Arsenal vs Tottenham (at Emirates) West Ham vs Crystal Palace (When they were both in the English Championship) and England vs Holland at Wembley. It was an amazing few days. Would not trade the experience for anything.

He is tremendous and one of my favorite parts about when the World Cup and EuroCup is on ESPN.  The NBC announcers for the EPL are all really good too.

That was as good of an El Clasico as I can remember. What a game from start to finish. Messi the magic man for the win.

Ray Hudson creamed himself the entire game.

Well that game will NOT be erased from my DVR!  Just effing fantastic El Clasico!  OMG, after last week's Champions League embarrassment, just when I had pretty much given up on Barca, Messi comes out playing with his hair on fire and gives us a brace that nobody will ever forget!  But as good as Messi was, the level of play in that game by literally everyone on the field (save Sergio Ramos' red card dick move) was utterly brilliant.  Brilliant shots followed instantly by brilliant saves on both ends...best quality futbol game I've seen in years!  And that ending...WHOO HOO!
