OT soccer game story/incident
I've mentioned my grandfather several times on this board as the usher at section 1 for 71 yrs now. Well today he was working the soccer game as it was required. He is not a fan of futbol to say the least. He told me we could call in sick or just go and if he gets board take a little nap. He was kidding.
Well he called tonight and said he woke up in the hospital and they were checking his heart. It seems the nap wasn't a joke and sure enough he was out. The people at the stadium thought he was dead, an ambulance was called and he was taken off to the hospital. I mean the guy is 91 and when he naps he naps hard but come on Pops. He was laughing like crazy when he called me but I doubt those that "found him" were quite so entertained.
I'm glad he is ok and he promised me he wouldn't take any naps once the real football starts in 5 weeks. Thought the board would be entertained by that and a little story to hold you over till Nike reveal I'm 23 hrs.
Wow - best wishes to your Pops and your family. GO BLUE!
Best wishes? You miss the part where he was just napping?
He's an inspiration to heavy sleepers everywhere, myself included
And one Denard Xavier Robinson.

Did any details ever come out about that incident?
i live in jax and there was an article in the Florida T-U on Friday, iirc. denard took realonsibility, saying he had a long day at work and shouldn't have gone out that night. no drugs/alcohol and i believe the case is closed.

stay strong, Pops - we need you around for what should be an epic season of Michigan football
Glad he's doing alright. He needs to stick around for a few more years to experience the full effects of Harbaugh. Should be a fun ride.
He is lucky to keep doing what he loves...
those ushers stay in the same sections forever... ours has been there at least 30...
Reminds me of the AYSO days. That can put you out faster than NyQuil.
I'm 91
havin' fun
football season
almost begun.
Wishing him the best
Honorary is the word "your" looking for.
Glad he's okay. By the way, you have pretty decent grammar and writing skills for being just shy of a day old. Probably the youngest poster here.
Yeah sorry about that. It was late when I posted and did it from my phone (hence the horrible spacing as well).

No worries. Just razzing ya.
Glad he was just napping! It would suck for him to miss this upcoming season...
and back.
wow. God bless him and glad it's a fun story now.
go blue grandpa!
Cjm,
I'm hoping he's okay and it's a speedy full recovery.
My tickets this season are in section 1. Whereabouts is he the usher? Will I see him?

He is at the main concourse. Has been for all those years. You will see him. His name is Jim Luke.

think his dad would let him usher at that age.
he doesn't ask for permission.
A story with a happy ending. Way to go grandpa keep em' on their toes, while YOU get the sleep.
Must have been more boring than expected? The all exciting 0-0 tie is stronger than tryptophan in turkey.
that's my kind of usher!
Glad he's okay, OP.
Glad he's OK. I sit in section 1. Two years ago your grandfather was a tremendous help in throwing out an obnoxious couple who were verbally abusive toward my daughter. I simply asked your grandfather to ask these people to show him their tickets (they didn't belong there). When the guy refused to show his ticket, your grandfather went ballistic on them and practically carried them out of the section. Didn't think he had that kind of spunk in him, but obviously he does.
