there ever being snow days (as in canceled classes due to weather) when I was a student at U of M... i heard it had something to do with law students sueing the U for the tuition costs lost through missed days.

http://www.michigandaily.com/content/why-doesnt-university-have-snow-da… But contrary to campus legend, there is no policy forbidding the University from cancelling classes. The myth that classes can't be canceled because a distraught Law School student sued the University for a day's tuition following a snow day in the 1970s is unfounded, said Dave Reid, the University's director of human resources communications.

We have been getting it pretty hard (that's what she said) in GR since last nite, and it is continuing this morning. Reports around the area have anywhere from 8" to 12" of snow.

Its funny any time my friends from up north (I live in Lou. KY) come to town here in the winter because snow is a common occurance where they live and they get a laugh out of how most people here react. Here, any time the word snow is said you can count on all of the grocery stores to be a riot scene and there will be no bread or milk on the shelves for days. It started because about 12 years ago the forcast was for 1 inch overnight and when we woke up the next morning there were 18 inches on the ground with another 4 still to fall. The city completely shut down for a week. Now everyone freaks out at the first hint of snow. Weather here in the Ohio Valley region is very hard to predict but that seems a little too off base when you miss by 20 + inches.

day of school because of snow when i lived in windsor. and the only reason why it happened is because like a one and a half feet fell over night and the city wasn't ready for it.

Snow Days in Windsor dont exist. Although most of the time students didnt want to show up and classes would just end up with 6 kids and would watch movies. Schools pretty much just dont close for snow that much (at least my schools didnt)

If it had started any earlier, we might have had a snow day here in Houston today. We can't drive for shit when the sky is falling. Seriously? Snow in early December? It's supposed to be 70 degrees out!

They just announced the first snow day of the season for these parts is tomorrow. And by snow day, I mean "cold out." There isn't any snow in the forecast, but apparently 20 degree weather is enough to cancel classes. Calcasieu Parish Announces School Closure I love living in the South. Now, you guys just take this weather back with you.

It's currently 73 degrees with a threat of severe thunderstorms in lovely South Florida. Next week it's supposed to be as hot as 85. I fully expect to be negbanged for this post, but I couldn't care less. I have a pool!

Do south quad and west squad still square off on the first snowfall? In 97 we (south) were really kicking butt until Dhani and some other football players crossed the road and pummeled us. I actually felt sorry for some of the geeky engineers that got whitewashed.

For the second day in a row, GRCC is closing early due to inclement weather. Yesterday at 3:00, today at 1:00. Sometimes working in education has its benefits.

It's a combination of icy roads from slush and sleet freezing overnite with snowfall and gusting winds creating whiteout conditions. Frankly, I was surprised they didn't cancel school from the get-go. But, that seems to be CC's SOP - get everyone to campus for part of the day, then when things get really shitty, send 'em all home. We'll see about the snowman, my bed is looking pretty good when I get home...
