OT Snead to the NFL

Very surprised, but Jevin Snead decided to bolt for the NFL. I thought he would stay another year, and he definitely could have used it. There are a lot of QBs coming out this year with Bradford, Claussen, and Snead leaving early, and Tebow and McCoy graduating.

I wonder if this affects our old friend Ryan Mallett's decision. It definitely seems as though Locker from UW made a good decision, especially considering it looks like the rookie cap isn't going to be in place by 2011. The 2011 QB draft class could be terrible if Mallett goes pro.

well that makes no sense. his stock has dropped tremendously. it is hard to think of a prospect in greater need of rehabilitating his draft profile than snead.

... a multimillion dollar contract makes no sense. I hear and believe the argument for sticking around, but the allure of fast cash should not be dismissed so flippantly.

Do Something. If it works, do more of it. If it doesn't, do something else.

Ole Miss in 2009 was like Clemson in 2008, which unfortunately was like UM in 2007. Highly ranked in the pre-season, top 10, dark horse talk for a BCS championship. They all finished with 4 losses after rough starts (some rougher than others)

I think Nutt is a "good" coach, but something tells me that the last two years has shown Ole Miss' max potential. 9-3 regular season is an absolute best case scenario... more likely a year-end-year-out 7-5 team.

Snead is the most incompetent 5-star QB I have seen at the college level. My guess is that he decided to leave Old Miss while he still had some "potential" left.

It was tough to truly judge freshman Jimmah, every other play he was either beneath three D-linemen or running for his life. Snead will have all the time in the world and then hit opposing DBs right between the numbers.

Ole Miss fans expect a National Title, Snead probably doesn't feel like having to live up to their expectations.

The lack of a rookie salary cap isn't going to make up for your 3rd or 4th round status, sir. Oh, and don't even think about trying to win the Josh Freeman award for most puzzlingly high draft pick by a crappy quarterback. The Raiders, Lions, and Bucs all have young QBs, thank you very much.

It's all John Navarre's fault.

Hopefully Snead goes to a team where he can sit back and learn from the sideline for, I dunno, 8 or 9 years.

but I'm totally shocked by this.

He really regressed this season after lighting it up at the end of 2008.

He has the Physical tools to succeed, so he might impress at the combine, but I can't see any team spending higher than a third round pick on him.
