OT: Skip Bayless the latest to leave ESPN

Submitted by Blueblood2991 on

Skip Bayless is the latest employee that ESPN lost to FOX in a bidding war.  They apparently offered him $4 million a year (seriously?) which he turned down.

To me, this is a great opportunity for them to bring some fresh blood for a fraction of the price.  But this is ESPN we are talking about, so they'll probably promote Jemele Hill to work along with Stephen A Smith and lose the few remaining viewers they have.

"Kinda new here"

POSBANG is when something good happens that everyone just kind of Votes up on all the posts.  Skip Bayless leaving ESPN is fantastic so everyone should be happy enough to vote up everyone.  The opposite is a NEGBANG.

Yea, and the people were delivered from the demons of stupidity and trolling, and they celebrated and gave thanks to the Lord. And the Lord bade them to revel in their time, for deep in their hearts they knew that worse times of stupidity and trolling were ahead. And they knew that though lessons had not been learned, that for the briefest of moments, the sun would shine. And it would be good. Mgoboards 4:26

Skip Bayless becomes the main Big Ten football pregame/halftime studio analyst on FOX.

Note how "Skip Bayless moves from ESPN to FOX" is equivalent, in many people's minds, to "Skip Bayless disappears off the face of the Earth."

FS1 is building an empire of hot take artists.  With Whitlock, Cowherd, Bayless, and Clay Travis they are assembling a who's-who of sports asshats.  The exec that was responsible for the "Embrace Debate" culture at ESPN is now running things at Fox.

So maybe scale back those happy dances that Fox is getting a big chunk of Big Ten rights.  Because all of your least favorite sports people are going to be the ones providing analysis on it.

This is good news. I don't care for him one bit. Although I infrequently watch ESPN unless a game is on, it pleases me that on such occasions he will not be a part of the audio/visual experience.

The problem isn't as much with the debaters (although I can't stand either Stephen A. or Skip), as it is with the premise of the show. ESPN will just replace him with another douchebag, even if that person isn't in fact a douchebag, because the show requires douchebag commentators  that spew off bullshit hot takes.

Make ESPN great again. Show games and highlights.

Hopefully this prompts ESPN to drop their whole embrace debate platform across the network, besides PTI. I still can never get over the fact that Skip and Rick Bayless are brothers, such different personalities.
