OT: Six Degrees Of MGoBlog.

Submitted by MaizeMN on

The wife, who has become interested in the going-ons here has made a suggestion. It may be fun, or just an exercise in lunacy. She didn't understand the 6 degress of Kevin Bacon exercise, but once she did, suggested a MGoBlog version. To that end: Kevin Bacon + Michigan, in 6, if you are so inclined.

EDIT: Whatever you may be drinking rationale is encouraged.

thanks to all of the guest actors Star Trek TNG had, you can go this way:

Brady to Dorn in the Dodge commercial

Dorn to Ray Wise in the TNG episode Who Watches the Watchers

Wise in X-Men First Class with Bacon

That is the only shortcut I could find, most of the other TNG guests (Ashley Judd, Tony Todd, Terry O'Quinn, James Cromwell, Famke Janssen, and many more) are the same number of steps as Patrick Stewart was.

link to Patrick Stuart, who gave a rousing speech at the Big House at half time of the Indiana game on November 11, 2006 in which he commanded that we should go to Columbus and beat the Buckeyes and then proclaimed "make it so... NUMBER ONE!!"  He then conducted the band.

...Then Bo died and we lost.  But up till then it was awesome.

The quick and easy way to discovering the "Bacon Number" for someone who has performed in a film can be found here:  http://oracleofbacon.org/index.php

It becomes harder when the "Bacon Number" requires a University of Michigan connection, and THAT'S what make this game interesting.

Denard Robinson got a shout out from President Barack Obama when the President appeared at a rally in Ann Arbor on January 27, 2012.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Py7DCUv8DE

There are clips of President Obama in the HBO movie Game Change in which Ed Harris portrays Senator John McCain.

Ed Harris and Kevin Bacon appear together in Apollo 13

Bo Schembechler and Charles Woodson appeared in Great Gridiron Rivalries: Ohio State vs. Michigan.
Charles Woodson and Queen Latifah appeared in Life in the 310: Vol. 3.
Queen Latifah and Kevin Bacon appeared in Beauty Shop.

Google lets you determine a Bacon number by entering 'Bacon Number' after a person's name.  SWEET!

KEVIN BACON was in Apollo 13 with Bill Paxton

BILL PAXTON was in Indian Summer with Seth Fisher

Or Indian Summer was written and directed by Mike Binder, who's partners in his Coney Dog* venture with Braylon Edwards (and Sam Raimi, whose brother Ted went to Michigan).

*People from Los Angeles you should go there. It's a Detroit-style Coneys restaurant in L.A. that will always have Michigan beers and the Michigan game. Adam Sandler and Kris Draper are also partners. Raimi is the only State fan so if he's in you might have to fight him for the remote.

Lets try this with MGoBlog posters.....

Odds are that someone who sits in (1) Section 1 suffers from (2) Diabeetus.

(2) Diabeetus care prescriptions can be filled at the CVS located at 209 S. (3) State Street

(3) State Street is home to Stairway to Heaven , where you are likely to find old vinyl LPs of artists featured on (4) The Quiet Storm.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiet_storm

(4) The Quiet Storm style is often used to describe (5) Marvin Gaye's "Lets Get it On" LP

(5) Marvin Gaye's "How Sweet It Is" plays during the street party scene of the 1988 romantic comedy "She's Having a Baby", starring none other than (6) Kevin Bacon

That was NOT easy.

1) Kevin Bacon was in Apollo 13 with Christian Clemenson (who played the flight surgeon).

2) Christian and I went to college together and once drove 50 miles out of the way on a cross-country drive to get barbeque at Arthur Bryant's in Kansis City.  And I'm blue.

An actor named Jeremy Lelliot is a friend and my former roommate. He is a reasonbly known actor. Best know for a reacurring role on Seventh Heaven.

Anyway. Jeremy Lelliot was in Diplomatic Siege with J. Patrick McCormick who was in Hallow man with Kevin Bacon. Giving me a Bacon number of 3.

Jeremy can be linked to Kevin Bacon in 2 steps through many different people. This is just one of them. I've never been able to find a reasonbly well known actor with a bigger number than 3.
