"The face of the operation is Briatore (referred to exclusively in the film by his colleagues and angry, chanting detractors as "Flavio"), an anthropomorphic radish who spends most of his time at QPR plotting to fire all of the managers."
I would think it would be blurrier than that - what is the shutter speed of a cell phone?
Thought the same thing but she's sitting over the Green Monster wall, right? That means that more than likely that ball was descending and coming down at a slower speed. I'm not an engineer but it seems more likely she could capture this as opposed to a line drive down a baseline.
I'm calling fake.
A baseball is 3" in diameter, so measuring the scale on my screen, her head would be nearly 7 1/2" wide (almost a foot if you count the hair). That's a big head - wider than mine and I am a 6'2" guy.
Sure got a lot of free press - everyone's picking it up now. She'll be on Today and Letterman tomorrow - I bet her boyfriend shopped it.
How's the 9/11 Conspiracy home movie coming along?
You guys will fall for any pretty blonde's story.
I'd bet if Kate Upton told you we landed a man on the moon you'd believe it.
"I laughed pretty hard when I saw such a surreal picture that I had no idea I took"
So she snaps a picture, an instant later a ~400 foot shot lands within a couple of feet of her, and she can't put two and two together until she sees the photo?
If true, she's terrible at connecting the dots. Not a good trait for a reporter.
BTW, I'm fairly sure that the ball would be whistling at the speed it would have been travelling. From back in the day, I recall being able to hear pitches as the upper ~80s were approached.
upon seeing that
I bet I'm not the only one.
It's the perspective. You can't just randomly apply "scale" to a picture without accounting for depth of field...
If that's a photoshop, it's really good. The ball is slightly distorted from the rolling shutter effect from the CMOS sensor scanning. I bet if you could find out the sensor scan speed you could figure out the trajectory and speed of the ball based on the distortion caused by the rolling shutter.
The ball is behind her.
I thought the same thing. The camera is pointed directly at the sun so it should be at the fastest speed possible.
It's in direct sunlight more or less. I would guess shutter speed is around 1/1250th or 1/2000th @ f/5.6 or f/6 seeing as all the seats behind her on the opposite side of the stadium are in focus. 1/1250th is plenty fast to stop regular motion - and seeing as the ball is still burry, this seems correct. This turns NSFMK in 3..2..
Not Safe For Mini Kegs?
but probably will remain safe for mini kegs
How would this be NSFMK?
you would see on Touch The Banner. That is quite the photo.
I guess it's time to put a helmet on the sideline reporters.
Dumb broad should have had her head on a swivel.
Eyes on the ball, Alice.
During batting practice no less. The story says there were multiple hits landing in that area before she even took the picture.
On a semi-related note; bleachers at Wrigley + drunks + BP = 100% pure bombs over bagdad. It was splendid.
Attention whoring has no time to pay attention to the batting practices below.
Not a near miss that's a near hit. Look the baseball nearly hit her but didn't. Not look the baseball nearly missed her....because that means it hit her.
Holy punctuation, Batman!
Periods are nice, but you might want to try using some of the other nifty marks out there.
It would have been really funny if someone had photobombed her and got hit by the ball.
I have a hard time believing that isn't Photoshopped.
Even if the pic is faked I'd probably still have relations with her.
The highlights and shadows seem to be consistent as well as the shape of the ball and apparant trajectory. I am pretty good with photoshop and IMO that is a really good job if it is shopped.
That's a heck of a poke to the top of the Green Monster and she isn't even in the front row. Does anyone know who was taking BP at the time?
Bucky F***ing Dent.
Selfie's at the Ballpark! I think it's fake.. but if it's real the players had to be playing the good old closest to the ball collector at the driving range game.
Lotta hate on this thread. I can only hope that attractive people do not frequent MGoBlog in the off-season, as the knives are out.
