OT?: Shout out to San Diego Mick!!

Submitted by SoCalWolverine on
Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to San Diego Mick for hosting a party for a bunch of randoms at his house for the game. It takes a special kind of guy to let strangers from an Internet message board into his home for a game that we didn't have access to ourselves. While the outcome may not have been as great as we all wanted, it was absolutely the most gracious experience to be welcomed into Mick and Sandy's home.

Thank you once again for being a fantastic host!

And great that some dudes/chicks showed up. Hopefully there wasn't the volume of swearing and amount of despair as there was at my place in GR,MI. If there was a fly on my wall he'd have thought Morris was the second coming even though he never took a snap. I thought I was at a Lions game in the Harrington era.

And what better reason for it than thanking San Diego Mick for his generous hospitality! And, being able to share the misery of the first 3 quarters (and then some) with others made it easier to bear (along with lots of pizza and beer). It was a pleasure hanging with my fellow local MGoBloggers, and hope to do it again some time in the future... Thank you again, SD Mick!

Fun guy and it was so nice of him and Sandy to open up their home. My wife was happy that I was able to trade her brownies for an entire leftover pizza. Thanks again to everyone. Austin was adorable and a good kid.

and Sandy!  Very awesome that you opened your house to the entire board, and welcomed a group of strangers.  San Diego has a new place for UM fans to gather...if Mick will have us back.

Thanks to all of you that showed up, good guys (and ladies) all around.   And a special shout out to the couple of you that live multiple hours away that made the trip!

So cool of you to host that. I also watched in San Diego, with a horrible feed from ESPN3. Watching with my Dad, who is hyper critical in average situations, was really not so fun. I hope to meet at the SD people some day!

thanks so much for creating a post thanking me, I'll tell you what, all of the folks who showed up were super cool and classy, Sandy and myself feel like we've made a bunch of really cool new friends, definitely will do it again, and we have room for more.

Thanks for coming everyone, at least we won the damn game, hopefully it will be character building, being down 14 in the 4th QT and coming back like that, Devin surely has to be more careful with the ball, holds it to loosely.

Even though I live over 2000 miles away, I was curious as to how this went and was hoping someone would post about it. Glad to see that it went well! This might set a precedent for havint MGoMeetups of this nature should the coverage thing become an issue again.

Sadly, I cannot watch a game with other humans.  I get too nervous.  Last night, I went into the other room and watched the 9th inning of the Tigers game.  Tigs were down 6-0.  Never would have watched it otherwise.  crazy.

I just made it home, back to Kalamazoo. Great times! No, I'm just posting a day late on the thank yous from San Diego. Mick/Borges and Sandy were great hosts.

I remember some yelling (just a little), some pizza (meat lovers*6), some beers, some chips, some brownies (no not that kind) and at least some shred of happiness that we got to see an awesome ending to the Tigers game! Thank you Mick and your 3 tvs on the wall and 1 tv outside on your deck. Next time I'm in the market for a tv, I hope you can give me a good deal.

Nice first post up there DanDiego! John W has been to all the Michigan Rose Bowls so don't even try to beat him in M-Go-Rose-Bowl trivia.

Thanks again Mick!
