This is of course is a shocking development. In all seriousness, we all saw it coming.

This is step one of my prediction...

  1. Kirby Smart to Georgia
  2. Mark Richt to Miami
  3. Jeremy Pruitt (if he doesn't get the S. Carolina head job) to Bama as DC

Obvious coaching hires if you ask me...

It definitely helps with Hardman. He said that Pruitt staying was a bigger deal for him than even Richt. Time to swoop in. Nauta, hard to say either way. He said he wanted to see who they hire and evaluate it.

might look good to him. I wonder what kind of offense Smart wants to run. Jacob Eason is visiting UF. If he bolts that should help us with Nauta. I guess there's also the chance Nauta follows him down there.

It might be more fruitful for Pruitt to become a head coach at another school first. Prove that he is a good coach and he could become the successor to Saban at some point down the road. I suppose Smart probably thinks the same thing, although Georgia can definitely be a destination school.

...it's a money thing. He's always been a Georgia guy.

Pruitt absolutely would take a HC job, IMO...I just don't know if he'll get it. That said, everyone is saying no to S. Carolina, so maybe he does get it (and they'll say he's the #1 choice all along).

However, if he doesn't get a HC gig that he wants...I think he's clearly headed to Bama to replace Smart.

I wonder if Kiffin will be back?

For a just barely better than two finger typer like me...it actually is easier to type. Not just because it's 3 less letters, but where they're placed on a keyboard.  Not that you give a shit...but that's literally the only reason I use it.

You annoyed when it's used to describe a type of people? Or just in general?

this is a big risk for GA. Idk i always think of saban assistants the same way i think of belichick's. I feel like what saban has built at bama could make rich rod look like a pretty good defensive coach

I saw where a source said Pruitt will not be retained. Helps with Hardman. No idea if Nauta likes the hire and if he does I think they land him. If he isn't pumped about it, I think we have a good shot.

Not to highjack the thread...but if I'm Dan Mullen, I actually think the MD job would be a pretty good jump forward from Miss St.

The in-state and surrounding recruiting is comparable, especially when you consider competition and while people say MD is a black hole because of in-division competition, it might be worse in the SEC west.

It's actually a pretty good fit IMO.

Why is that shocking everyone in the sec was after Kirby smart? Not sure how smart this hire is though! Ya I said it

We were dominant early in the year. But when you lose Glasgow it's a killer.

And you also have to be multiple and flexible enough to change out of it. That's what pissed me off. All off-season we were told it didn't matter if it was 4-3 or 3-4, we were going to be "multiple."

We never ran anything other than a 4-2-5 Nickel package with a rush LB that made it a 3-3-5 Rush package.

Whatever happened to being multiple? Do you not have the ability to shift into a 4-3 once you're down 2 scores in the second half and Zeke Elliott is bending your D over and railing you from behind?

There's no excuse.

You have Greg Mattison on the staff, a former DC who ran a 4-3. You all are smart guys...it's not hard. At halftime, you go in and say "Delano, we're pulling you for another DL and we're going to see how this works."

Charlton, Hurst, Henry, Wormley

Ross, Morgan, Bolden

Lewis, Stribling

Wilson, Peppers

...alright, let's man up and tackle someone.

In this day and age Kirby was as loyal as they come, but he was also wise. He waited until a great opportunity (near perfect for him, I'm sure) presented itself before he made the leap. And the guy has yet to turn 40.
