According to espn, the shock are packing up and leaving for Tulsa. Will anyone notice?
OT - Shock to leave town
So that's what Bill Laimbeer resigned.
something about a tree in a forest not making any noise?
at least we got that mystery solved. The answer: No the tree isn't heard and is especially not cared for.
but the tree had good fundamentals, even it was physically unattractive.
It probably wasn't a good sign when the last game of the 2006 WNBA finals was moved to the JLA because the Palace had booked a Mariah Carey concert. Or when their big playoff victories didn't get top billing in the News and Freep sports sections, even when the other content wasn't particularly thrilling. Or when their championship celebrations attracted sparse crowds.
Basically, I don't think the Shock were ever going to get much attention in Michigan, so this move isn't a big...uh...shock.
I saw this thread's title and thought the WLA was re-configuring its plan for world domination.
to be mean I just don't care that they are leaving. I am going to get yelled at. There is no sport I would rather watch less than womens basketball. It is just so sloppy, it looks like a JV team. Turnovers non stop airballs I just can't stand it. The girls are wonderful athletes, but it is just hard to watch for me.
Why come Shock going to Tulsa?
Eh, they still have the Internet down there, right?
He'll still be able to post. We wont even know the difference.
This is one of the reasons
Priceless. That video encompasses everything that is the WNBA.
I never understood why the team's name was singular. If you're going for an auto-part theme to accompany "Pistons", wouldn't it make more sense to call them the "Shocks"?
Seriously.......does the WNBA even exist. Maybe Rush can bring some attention with an ownership stake.
Hopefully Marathon will repaint that circular Oil storage thing on I-75 south of Detriot back to a Tigers themed baseball.
I get pissed off everytime I drive by that thing and see the Shock logo on it.
Why does Tulsa keep stealing Michigan beavers?
No wait. +10
Make that +20
How much is a WNBA team worth. I'd say around $200,000.
I watched the Shock in the playoffs, but that was it. At least they won some championships. I found it rather amusing that they did, and the Lions were, well, the Lions.
I for one will miss them. Great championships for our city.
