OT- SB Nation rates the top 10 games of the 2016 season
I didn't go through the whole list (who cares what the 95th rated game was) so I only looked at the top 10. Not surprisingly, the Orange Bowl came in 4th and "The Game" is 3rd. You can probably figure out which games came in 1st and 2nd. (Hint: the BIG is represented in 3 of the top 4).

Nah, offenses played well but there was a lot of horrible defense in that Rose Bowl. It wasn't a better played game than the Orange Bowl. Just prettier to watch because the quality of play was concentrated in the skill positions rather than the DLs.

that probably means there's poor execution defensively. That was a decidedly one-sided game offensively.

How can people seriously say the Orange Bowl was a good game?
Was the ending interesting, sure but it involved us not being able to make a basic kickoff tackle.
The game was a trainwreck to watch and was infuriating because of supposed focus and determination that was talked about all week was nowhere to be seen.

I'm so sick of having Michigan on the losing end of so many classics, especially OSU games.

I'd add:
Notre Dame vs. MSU - can you believe this was a Top 20 prime time battle in week 2?
Clemson vs. OSU - Urban's players should have watched Deliverance to prepare for that one.
UM vs. Rutgers - most underrated rivalry game in college football.

2005 OSU
2006 OSU
2013 OSU
2016 OSU
2015 MSU
2016 FSU
2013 Outback Bowl
Seems like more often than not, Michigan is in the receiving end of heartbreak in classic games. Seeming to always come up just short. You'd think that the universe would even that out eventually.

ND in 2009 (may the Forcier be with you), 2010 (DENARD), 2011(UTL)
Penn State 2005 (manningham. MANNINGHAM!)
OSU 2011
Sugar Bowl 2011 (ok that was a horrible game, but Michigan didn't really deserve to win and found a way)

Unless you want to count games against teams like northwestern and Minnesota. And hey we always win the close ones against Indiana. So we got that going for us.

Clemson got the dagger back. Facing third-and-1 from the Pitt 35, the Tigers had two chances to convert a first down and put the game away. Wayne Gallman got stuffed on both chances. Nathan Peterman and Scott Orndoff connected for 25 yards to get the Panthers into field goal range, and Chris Blewitt did not blow it (sorry).
I fully admit to making the same joke at the end of this game, but it still is kind of funny to think about how, of all the surnames you could have for a kicker with the game on the line, THAT surname....
