OT- Saturday night drinking open thread.

Submitted by MGoPietrowski on
Well, it's still Saturday down here in Central time.

Four damn weeks, folks.

I just got off work and am sipping on our wits up bier, while sitting in the bar doing a little people watching.

Next weekend I work my last Saturday shift, the following weekend the Premier league kicks of and I am in a good friends wedding, and the following, I'm moving back downtown, to an area I love and have spent many a Saturday afternoon watching the wolverines with my buds.

Then it's September 1st!

What are you guys doing tonight?
What are you getting into this month in order to kill time until the real reason we are all still alive?

Drinking some kind of cherry flavored Brandy.  Mmmm warm belly.

****Warning, this is a very long story. For details, read directly below, for Cliff Notes just scroll to bottom****

I can't start my own thread yet and I have a dilema I think the MgoBlogger's might be able to help me with.

I've been looking forward to the Alabama game ever since it was announced back in the RR era.  However, I live in Texas and my fiance's father got us season tickets (only my fiance and I) to the Longhorns.  Very nice thing for him to do and I usually don't mind recording the UM game and then watching later, but this season I HAVE to watch two games live.  Bama and Ohio.

First I checked out UT's home games, and it's not all that interesting.  No OSU, no Oklahoma and the instate rival A&M is now in the SEC. Below is the list:

Wyoming, New Mexico, West Virginia, Baylor (no more RG3), Iowa State and TCU

Being completly optimistic the WVU and Baylor games might be interesting, and the TCU matchup will be a good game I really want to see.

Then sometime during the week I was browsing Texas schedule on rivals and they have the Wyoming game on Sept. 1st at 7:00 p.m.! I mean seriously!  It's a cupcake game at prime time?! Well, this situation needs to be settled and at least there isn't anything else....oh, of course the TCU game is scheduled on the same day as Ohio...great.

My fiance is amazing and she loves college football.  As a UT graduate she buys me UM gear and even wears UM stuff.  She loves Denard (I know, who doesn't right?) and I'm pretty sure I can get out of the Wyoming game and give our tickets to some friends.

I am telling this WAY too long story to simply ask the genius and OVERLY creative MgoBrain (a play on letters, get it...cuz Brian...ok my belly is too warm) for tips or suggestions on convincing my fiance to get out of at least 1, hopefully 2, UT home games and things I could do to make it up to her.

CLIFF NOTES: Have season tickets to UT longhorns and they overlap both the Bama and Ohio games. Asking help on how to get out of going with my fiance and how to make it up to her.

Feel free to comment away on my grammar, TL/DR, that I'm a dick for wanting to get out of doing something with my future wife, or that I'm horrible for hijacking the drinking thread. Cheers.

Quite frankly, I believe in being honest and forthright in a situation like this. You won't have to fake your happiness and your fiance' will feel like she's marrying an honest guy she can trust to be truthful w/her.

She would be able to see through your consternation and in the end, I'm sure she just wants her man to be a happy guy, makes for a better relationship.

Besides, our games are wayyyyyy more interesting anyway, especially this year, good luck and Go Blue!!!!

...or you can take some kind of mobile device to watch the game. Recently I went to a Phillies game and the couple in front of us spent the whole game playing video games on their cell phones. What a waste or maybe they considered it quality time.

Started off with a Bomber of Nocturnal Tremens then a six pack of Prima Pils from Victory. THEN a couple of glasses of Jack London's Cabernet Savongion (sp? That has to be wrong) then finished it all off with a bomber of Duvel.

There might have been a few MGDs mixed in there, I dunno.

Whatever, come on LT...commit already homie.

I can't drink because I'm on meds for another week. Since I can't sleep either I have been watching highlights of our 2012 class, and when I see Drake Johnson he looks like a very good player. Has anybody seen him play live cause pioneer plays good teams so why do people say he can't be a top-level notch RB.

Man the thread got a late start last night. I am drinking coffee now, but last night I had a Old Leghumper by Thirsty Dog Brewing, its a pretty decent porter, and I personally like it more than Founder's porter.
