OT: San Jose is Destined to Never Win the Cup lol

Submitted by hockeyguy9125 on
Well the San Jose Sharks are at it again lol. They outshoot the Avalanche 50-16, 42-7 in the second and third periods. It is 0-0 heading to overtime. Dan Boyle in OT picks up the puck in the corner in his own zone, throws it around the boards to the other corner....uh I mean he throws it into his own net beating Nabakov to win the game for the Avalanche....lol. This was so priceless, I hate the Sharks, but how creative they are getting as they try to master the art of choking is really getting amusing. I was reading a Sharks blog's game day thread to see their reaction and it was extremely funny. They have a guy jumping off a bridge as a picture for the caption that the Avalanche won. I kinda feel bad for San Jose Fans. One guy on the thread actually picked Boyle to score the winning goal (LOL) and yeah he must really hate himself. So yeah, with it being a Sunday night late game, I am not sure how many people saw the game...but it is definitely worth the watch.

What a way to end that game, eh? I mean, up to that point it was balls to the wall hockey that kept you on the edge of your seat. The Canadian (CBET) announcers even compared it to Ali/Foreman. edit: for those curious about the guy jumping: http://www.fearthefin.com/ I strongly suggest reading the comments. It's delicious schadenfreude. And the ESPN recap: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=300418017

I hate the Sharks and all.....but seriously....I don't know what I would do if that happened to the Wings. That is just a plain brutal way to lose a game.

If something like that happened to the Red Wings or Michigan...I just hope I am not near anything valuable, because it would all probably be broken. Also, as much as I would want to drink, I really think it would get brutal fast, so hopefully I would not be close to that much alcohol...

Yep, Game 1, 96 West Finals, centering pass out in front, Osgood out of position, and Paul Coffey absolutely buries it in the back of his own net. I believe he scored both of Detroit's goals in that game too, so he had a hat trick in a funny sort of way.

I've made more jokes about the Sharks being playoff choke artists than anybody...but that was just wrong, what happened to them tonight. After all the highs and lows the postseason has brought as a Red Wings fan, what happened to SJ tonight...it makes me feel better to fall back on a throne made of four Stanley Cups, and at the same time I can think of all the horror stories and sympathize. From an unexpected curb-stomping sweep in the Finals in 95, to having the season end in overtime four separate times (LA 2001, Anaheim 2003, Calgary 2004, and for all intents and purposes Edmonton in 2006), to that....abomination that happened last year, Red Wings fans know all about playoff heartache. But that was just heinous what happened to the Sharks tonight. I would say it reminded me of a mid 90s Red Wings playoff game, complete and utter domination with nothing to show for it...but I honestly don't think even the Wings have endured something quite as obscene as that. I want to laugh, but I just can't. The hockey gods aren't supposed to be this cruel.

Some of the other posters were complaining about Howard's play...has there ever been a better regular season goalie, who has routinely choked in big games than Nabakov? Look at how he played against Canada in the Olympics and his playoff history. Without good goaltending, you just can't win in the playoffs, and the Sharks prove that better than any team in recent memory.

I really really really really hope that you aren't a Wings fan, because this thread reeks of bad karma for any team you happen to be a fan of. If you are, and the Wings lose, I am personally blaming you for it. Seriously, what a fucking terrible way to lose.

to see a hockey team win a game without scoring a goal. That was weird. That game did bring up some unpleasant memories, though, because there have been far too many playoff games in which the Wings dominated play but couldn't beat a goalie playing out of his mind. If the Colorado goalie didn't play maybe the best game he'll ever play, the Sharks win that game easily. How many times have Wings fans said that? Far too many times.
