OT: San Diego Fireworks Malfunction Last Night
Any MGOBLOGGERs from SD at the show last night? Wow, hilarious malfunction but the video is actually pretty awesome.

Sure it was short, but memorable for anyone that was there... I bet Kyle Turley blames this on Michigan as well...
Correction: That took place in San Deigo.
I think someone tried to magnify the light coming off of Denards smile.
There was a quote from one woman, "I was wondering if they were going to have a do-over."
Evidently, the rules of physics in California allow explosives to explode more than once.
<derp>
It actually went off like that in four locations from what I could tell. The one that looked like it was coming from Petco Park in downtown made it look like the city was on fire.
Better put some Neosporin on that and cover it up before it gets infected.
Would have been better spread out over 20 minutes. (Edit: although the picture above looks great. Maybe if I had been colser and been able to feel it?)
Bay City, MI is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their fireworks display on Saturday and are apparently lighting 50,000 fireworks in 50 minutes. That sounds like it will be a controlled version of this lasting 50x longer.
but the website says 5,000, not 50,000. might still be worth a trip up there. any idea what time they go off?
5,000 shells will be launched off of the Veteran's Bridge alone, with the 45,000 others being launched off a barge and the two sides of the river.
I'm sure they will go off shortly after dark, but you will need to get there very early to find parking. I'm in NC, but my brother was telling me all about it last night and plans on taking his family there.
The Saginaw fireworks started at 10:15pm on the dot so I am sure that the Bay City ones will start around that time as well.
I bet Clark was behind the malfunction.
So here's the story, I work for a local television station and every year we do this big show at the Big Bay Boom. Anchor desk in the field, multiple reporters, broadcast the show live, cutting into network programming.
This year, we decided not to do it, for whatever reason. I'd say that's a bullet dodged.
While it made my night absolutely atrocious since viewers and employees and reporters called me at an astonishing rate and it caused my workload to nearly double over two hours, it was an interesting night.
The company plans to do another show apparently, but I'm not at work yet, so I don't know the details.
Reminds me of my honeymoon.
I had a similar experience when I was younger fishing up in DeTour, MI. Expect on this 4th the 3rd firework decided to shoot sideways and set all of the other fireworks off without any of them lifting off the ground. Thankfully no one was hurt because this is something that I always think of every 4th of July.
