Submitted by jaydubya on

Yes, you read that correctly...

@Joseph_Duarte

Former @RiceFootball1 and Cy Fair running back Sam McGuffie has made the U.S. bobsled team

Update: This story is actually cooler (sorry) than I first gave it credit for.  If you'd like to read more about Sam's pursuit to join the U.S. Bobsled Team--or even make a donation--click here: https://www.gofundme.com/2p59g2v8

So bobsledding is officially the sport for people who didn't make it in thier first-choice sport?

Fell down while trying to qualify? Too many concussions to play football? Can't quite dunk? Bobsledding might be right for you.

That dude...

I'm really hoping to see some youtube videos in which he sprints down the starting chute and instead of the standard "jump in" to the bobsled, he does the old front flip into the sled a la his old highlight videos.

/runs, flips over large human, says "i'm sam mcguffie /flex

Good for him! I actually really like watching bobsled/luge/skeleton during the Olympics.

Although I'm glad he found a new something to do. What an absolute let down of a football player this kid was. He was one of the more hyped recruits I could remember. Mainly because he was the first to hurdle somebody in high school. See it almost every week now lol

Absolute letdown? As a true freshman, he rushed 118 times for 486 yards. That's 4.1 yards per carry on an awful team. And, he caught 19 passes for 175 yards. The only letdown was he got homesick -- and had some injuries. He was good enough to get a taste of the CFL as a wide receiver.

I think it was already posted when it came up but he also auditioned for American Ninja Warrior. Not sure if he made it on or not.
