Unless their OL play improves I dont think it matters who is the OC of that team.
OT: Roushar leaving msu
And why should I care?
Dan Roushar, the Spartans greatest opponent will be missed.
Goodnight Sweet Prince.
MSU fans are happy now. They should pick up their fan boy, Matt Millen.
Addition by subtraction. However funny how we pull coordinators from the NFL to come to Michigan, and State gets their coordinators pulled to be position coaches.
Also, how the fuck is this guy offered a job and leaves before Narduzzi?
Lloyd would usually "fire" coordinators by finidng NFL position coach gigs for them. I suspect that's what Dantonio did here. If and when Narduzzi leaves, it will probably either be for a HC position or a DC job at a more prestigious school.
Yeah this sounds an awful lot like herrmann leaving to be the LB coach of the Jets.
Was it the same with Malone and the Saints?
I was thrilled to see him go to the NFL.
Especially with how late he is leaving MSU (spring practice starts in about 4 weeks). I can't imagine Dantonio would allow this to happen unless he wanted him out and already had a replacement in mind
And those 6 yard outs on 3rd and ten were so much fun to watch too...
I bet all the Sparty fans are happy. They blamed all the Offensive problems on him.
And everywhere Spartan fans rejoice.........
You think we got frustrated with Al last season? Roushar made Borges look like he was running the "point a minute" Fielding Yost squad from 1901.
Good loss for Sparty, they could hire teddy ruxpin and it would be an improvement. Who was tressel's o-coordinator and is he available?
Roushar was not the problem there...IIRC they had an "11 win team" and a "clear path to the Rose Bowl" according to my Sparty associates pre-season last year.
Suddenly, it's Dan Roushar that caused their problems? Hardly. How about recruiting more skill than lucking out on LeVeon Bell and a transfer from Tennessee.
Not really OT, but yeah..Sparty fans will be happy, but their lack of an offense will become apparent regardless of who their OC is..
Well, the Saints had the 25th best rushing game in the NFL last year and the Spartans had the 95th best offense in Division I, so it's almost a lateral move from an overall performance standpoint. The next question is this - do they hire internally or does Dantonio walk over and sit at Hollis' desk and look desperately constipated for a number of hours before he concedes and offers to pay for an offensive coordinator? It is a shame that he is leaving - few people made Greg Davis look average for $300,000 or so per year.
I'm pretty sure this was Dantonio's way of firing Roushar. Even though it's the NFL, is a RB coach position for a team that isn't run-heavy. I think Roushar took this job because Dantonio told him that he better start looking around.
Could be, but if so it's a dick move to the 2013 offensive recruits, who just signed on the dotted line assuming he'd be their OC. If you're going to fire a guy, do it in January.
See the mgo.licio.us sidebar ... that's what Brian was thinking, too.
how did that guy get an nfl job in any capacity?
Connections. It's a RB coaching position. Quite a step down from a B1G OC.
I sure they will get a top notch OC. I'm sure many OC will love to take the opportunity to work with on offense with no quarterback, no running back, no TE, a horrid o-line as well as receivers who couldn't catch herpes from a MSU sorority house
This comment needs to be put in some sort of hall of fame.
MSU will follow new B1G tradition by looking at their giant piles of money and then they will still hire someone from the MAC
want a conservative O and replenish with a mediocre recruiting class.
So the most stagnant offense I've ever seen lost its best 4 players and it's oc, That sucks for them. On the other hand, this is probably good for them. The new guy cannot be worse.
No one thought the guy sucked a year ago. Maybe their players last season just weren't that good.
According to staee fans, Connor cook is going to be the next MSU heisman winner. Oops I mean the first
I thought Bell won an August Heisman last year when he went all BEASTMODE on Boise?
Personally, I find it hilarious that MSU fans believe that their next hire at OC will be a great one. That athletic department doesn't exactlly have a reputation for making big name hires. Should be interesting to see who they get.
Diggity Dan Enos.
Really late to go looking for an OC. Unless Dantonio hires someone from in house, it should be interesting because I can't imagine many people will be available unless you open up the bank.
Not to mention with spring practice starting in about 4 weeks, they will have to install a new offense and get position coaches on board with his system.
Maxwell will win the silver football next year now. He was so talented last year. It wasn't his fault!!!
I love that this thread has about half as many comments as the random internet guy who tore his acl thread.
YES!! Sorry to all the Saints fans.
I mean ... really
He was beyond awful for them last year. Pretty astute move by Dantonio IMO. He has ties to the Saints, he needed to get rid of Roushar, but didn't want to have to fire him, so Dantonio got him an interview with an NFL team. With a decent OC, MSU might have won a few more games last year.
Whoever they hire cant be worse than rousar. So they offense will improve. Maybe terrence samuels will get promoted from wrs coach.
for UM. MSU may just hire someone decent.
Again, addition by subtraction. However if Staee is not going to pay anyone decent money, they'll get the same clown in a different suit.
Did Lord Izzo OK this?
Dantonio likes Mike Hart to replace him.
Couch fires in EL are extinguished.
Februaries in EL: Mowing lawns and blazing furniture, I guess, lol.
Roushar got the OC gig when Treadwell left as a safe choice. Problem was the he did a job pretty good with the O-line before his promotion. Now what does Sparty do? Bring in a proven offensive coordinator who is new to the program and may have a different philosophy or promote from within to maintain stability? In either case, can't imagine the offense is going to that much better.
Thanks for clearing that up, I had been wondering...
Amazing resemblence to somebody in EL.
Well, at least its not like we have to be worried about a blue chip coordinator coming in.
