The shocker of the century, to be sure:

At least we'll get compensation picks.

That sucks. Despite causing many near heart attacks in the greater Metro-Detroit area, Rodney was effective as a closer. Let's hope DD has a back-up plan that does not include coaxing Todd Jones out of retirement.

Does this mean Ryan Perry will be the closer?

i hope not, he needs another year to gain some good comand of the the strike zone. i went to a game early last year the tigers were winning by eight and perry came in. he threw about ten pitches with 1/2 of them wild and at least two behind the batter.

Supposedly, we'll hear whether or not the blockbuster arizona/nyy/detroit blockbuster involving E Jackson and Granderson is going to happen in the next hour or so.
Schereth, Scherzer, A Jackson, and Coke/Dunn/maybe both?
We drop edwin's expensive contract (unless he didn't hit his ceiling last year?) but give up a super affordable bat and my personal favorite guy on the team.

I know it sounds far fetched considering Bonderman was a stud until July 2007. But if he can't bounce back as a starter, why not put his mid 90's fastball and slider out there to close things out?
