OT: Rocket League!

Submitted by MC5-95 on

With one long month until football season, I have to say I am grateful for the new video game Rocket League. It is so much fun and such a huge time suck that will make August fly by. For those not familiar, it's a car racing / soccer hybrid. It's currently available as a free PS Plus download for PS4.

Any other Rocket League players here?

(This is my first MGoBoard thread post, so apologies if I've done something wrong. I tried a search for recent video game threads, but apparently MGoSearch is down.)

I own an Xbox One and am seriously considering buying a PS4 just so I can play this game. It looks like so much fun.

I hope it makes it to Xbox One soon.

This is definitely the last place I would expect anyone to post about this game lol. I had been playing it for a while but I have been and will be playing N++ for the foreseeable future. Rocket League is really fun though, you should check out some of the videos people post on YouTube some pretty crazy stuff on there.

She packed my bags last night pre-flight

Zero hour nine a.m.

And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then

I miss the earth so much I miss my wife

It's lonely out in space

On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long long time

Till touch down brings me round again to find

I'm not the man they think I am at home

Oh no no no I'm a rocket man

Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids

In fact it's cold as hell

And there's no one there to raise them if you did

And all this science I don't understand

It's just my job five days a week

A rocket man, a rocket man

And I think it's gonna be a long long time...

Wish it was on Xbox One, but honestly the PC experience has been great.  Xbox One controller is fully supported for in game menus/tutorials etc and I can still use party chat with that schmancy new Xbox app for Windows 10.

Within games you just go to options/controller or input devices/controls and you can switch to controller.  Just need a USB controller, not sure if normal xbox controllers are USB, if they are you should be fine.

Some games will automatically detect the controller and make it primary but most you need to switch from M+K-->Controller in settings.

Shouldn't be difficult.

All I had to do was plug the Xbox One controller in to usb via the charging cable and it worked right out of the box.  This is on Windows 10.  Not sure about other OS, but I'm 90% sure it also works that way on Windows 8/8.1.  Otherwise you might need drivers.

I love Rocket League. My buddy and I started playing on PS4 but ended up buying the Steam version for $20. Better resolution, frame rate, etc.

We have been having so much fun. My attention span is short and I usually can't play video games for more than about one hour but I have been absolutely hooked on this game. 2-3 hours a night. We got a 10 win streak going last night.

Getting the physics down and learning to jump, double jump, flip, etc. So much fun. Hard to believe it's only $20 when crap AAA titles cost $60.

Tried it at a friends place on PS4 shortly after it came out and ended up buying it on PC. Fortunately, being tech savvy and having used it before, I reintalled the driver that makes my PS3 controller work on my PC, and even found an alternate to the tool used for it that has a much better UI and isn't made in China.

Definitely hope they get a cross-platform party system in soon. A lot of my friends have it on PS4 since it was free for PS+ users this month and it sucks I can't intentionally play with them. (Hilariously, I did randomly end up in the same game against a few of them once)
