OT: RIP Tom Kowalski: One year ago today

Submitted by Phil Brickma on

One year ago today, Lions fans lost the best beat writer they knew. Still sucks when I think about how much I miss his Lions coverage. He was, without a doubt, the go-to guy for Lions news and analysis.

MLive had a nice write-up today.

Also, a link to the video presented at the NFL Hall of Fame ceremony where he was posthumously awarded the 2012 McCann Award for his work covering the NFL.

RIP, Tom.

I think you nailed it.  I saw the Tom Kowalski post and thought the same damn thing.  I didnt realize that "Phil" was born the same day RDT died.  What a coincidence.

Oh it's him all right.  Go back and read "Phil's" posts and what interests him and tell me that he isnt just the latest incarnation of the dearly departed WIAB/RDT.  Jesus this guy's got more persona's than this chick

Tom "Killer" Kowalski passed away a year ago?  Man, I totally missed that news.  SMH.  :(  Sorry to hear that.  I feel bad that he wasn't around to see the Lions turn things around.

I'm honored to somehow play a role in the RDT/WIAB storyline. I know there is no way to say I'm not said person without everyone dismissing it, but I'm not that person.

One of the great things about Killer's life was that he probably knew that a lot of people loved and respected him before he died.  He was one of the "good guys," and was one of the two reasons, along with Angelique, that I had to read a Michigan-based paper during the last two years of his life.

jeez, I hope we don't start posting all the anniversaries of all the people that pass away on top of all the RIP posts to begin with.  mgoblog is turning into an obituary page.
