Ghost of BCook…

With her ability to critique fashion, I'd always wanted her to do a special "red carpet" show focused on football UNIFORMZ.  Would have been too funny....

RIP Ms. Rivers.

Until I started listening to Howard Stern about 10 years ago, I knew nothing about her other than her red carpet stuff.. and hocking things on home shopping network. But now knowing her history in comedy and how funny she was on Stern I've had a whole different opinion of her lately. She was great. And she was just on a few weeks ago... can't believe she's passed away. They always joke about it when she's on.

RIP

She was a great person off stage and off the mic. I used to manage at Andiamo and when she did her show every year she'd talk with all the servers and bartenders and compliment everyone and ask how they were doing. Even signed a menu out of the blue for my fiance to cheer her up from a rough day of crazy guests.

RIP Joan

Really?  You couldn't have just said it was sad for her to die and leave it at that.  Would you want people to say "sad oHOWiHATEohioSTATE died, but he sucked posting on the internet"?

Gawd, can't someone just die and people feel bad without everyone having to act "cool" and rag on a dead person?

As Joan Rivers is an internationally known figure and is interwoven with the last couple generations of comedy and popular culture, it's definitely newsworthy and the thread can stand.

It's very sad that within weeks of one another, two icons of comedy have been lost. Rivers entertained across a few generations and was still very active and performing as well, so even at 81 years old, she had little intention of slowing down.

Actually, although I will probably always know her best as Dot Matrix in "Spaceballs" like some of you (her cameo in "Muppets Take Manhattan" was pretty awesome too), if you've never seen her stand up from early in her career, here's a sample from "The Ed Sullivan Show".

RIP Joan Rivers.

It's hard to come up with the comedic names that appeal to so many generations.  Rivers and Williams were two of them.  Both kept themselves relevant over the decades which is no small task.

I will miss her, even if it was just a random news blurb about some strongly worded opinion she expressed.  I liked knowing her common set, guts and humor were there.

I wasn't a fan of her personally, but there's no denying she had a big impact on TV comedy.  She was definitely a trail-blazer for women comedians.  There weren't many at all when she started.  RIP Joan.

Very sad. She was witty, she was funny, and at times she seemed bat shit crazy. She always seemed to be very honest (as others have said, her visits to the Stern show were gold), which I thought was cool. She will definitely be missed.
