OT - RGIII Going Pro
Had to know it was coming, he couldn't possibly have more hype surrounding him going into combines and the draft.Good luck to him, he was certainly amazing to watch. Hopefully he can give dual-threat QB's a good name in the NFL and if Denard continues to improve he will have a shot to show what he's got.

He might help the Redskins who really need a QB, assuming he makes it that far.

are going to be the lynchpin of the top 10. I am hoping the Browns use their 2 first rounders to create a Godfather offer for Indy and the #1 pick.
Assuming that doesn't happen, the first round is likely to have Luck go to Indy, Blackmon to the Rams, Kalil to the Vikings, and then the Browns will be on the clock. Are they ready to give up on Colt McCoy? Will they fake interest in RGIII to try and drum up a trade (washington perhaps?) If Blackmon somehow slips past the Rams (Kalil would make a nice bookend for Saffold), do the Browns upgrade at WR (Massoquoi, Norwood and Cribbs is not good enough).
McShay (and other way too early mock drafters) have been slotting Richardson to the Browns at number 4, but I can't see the Holmgren and Heckert going that route, even if they let Hillis go in FA.
Will be interesting for sure

Who gives a shit about the Browns once, let alone three times?

As a Browns season ticket holder i really, really hope the get him. He would definitely be a big improvement over Colt McCoy.

From your keyboard to God's ears my friend

If he goes to the Redskins, any chance they'd ask him how long he's been a black quarterback?
(not a racist comment by any means, hopefully you guys remember the interview from back in the day...)
January 10th, 2012 at 5:21 PM ^
I don't remember what you're referring to but since DC is a black city Snyder always tries to land a black QB to bring back the Doug Williams era and get the fans excited. (Jason Campbell, Donovan McNabb) he's got to be creaming over RGIII

I guess I'm a little dislexic because I thought it said "GRIII going Pro" and I shrieked. It was embarrassing since I sit in a quiet office.

You're not alone. I thought the same thing.

Fifthed. Even though I know NBA rules prevent it, I still shat a little.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I had to do a double take.

Does this annoy anyone else that this is 'Breaking News' on the ESPN bottom line? Everyday there is a new BREAKING NEWS story when just a few years ago, pre-twitter, it was just 'news'. Maybe it doesn't, but that breaking news shit from ESPN is getting old.
January 10th, 2012 at 4:35 PM ^
Actually I was just thinking about that a couple weeks ago when Ben Roethlisburger was questionable to start his game against (I think it was) San Francisco(??) and they said:
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!ELEVEN!!!: Ben Roethlisburger to start tonight...
It was sad, and annoying.

So are the Saban interviews...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
January 10th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
the term "breaking news" technically means that it's a story or event that is currently developing or unfolding. There is a connotation that the news is important or unexpected, but the unexpected nature isn't requisite for the term "breaking"

With Cam Newton, Vick, Tebow, and now RGIII coming up. If Denard keeps his interceptions down he's entering an NFL that is the most mobile QB friendly I've seen for quite some time and should get a very good shot at playing time
January 10th, 2012 at 5:24 PM ^
but you need to put down the Kool-Aid my friend. Denard will not be a QB at the next level - a team may try to work in some wildcat packages around him but he is Tebow without the size/durability or a faster Newton/Vick/RGIII without the arm/accuracy.
I see him fitting best in a Harvin type role and maybe on returns depending on how well he can catch the ball.
January 10th, 2012 at 5:19 PM ^
I read that as "GRIII" goes pro and very nearly shat myself.

His draft stock will never be higher despite the the overal horror that was the Alamo Bowl, and I believe he already has his degree and is in a masters program, so I compliment him for sticking with education and trying to manage going to the pros. Griffin seems like he has it together and could even keep it together. Good luck to him.

Become a Brown please.
We'll draft Kendell Wright for you

but I guessed I missed the part where the must've been rampant speculation instead of actual facts
