OT: Reggie Bush Suing St. Louis
I had not seen this posted (please delete if I missed it, MODS), but Reggie Bush is apparently suing the city of St. Louis because of the potentially career-ending knee injury he received playing in the city-owned Edward Jones Dome.
I REALLY hope this doesn't turn into a debate about attorneys or tort reform or whatever, but it sure seems to me Bush has a slam-dunk case here. Another player was injured a few weeks earlier, and now the city/stadium is rushing to cover the concrete that caused the injury before the Rams next home game.

on that show is really offensive. Seriously, the show does not depict the actual world. If anything, its depiction of racist or biggoted views is is only to highlight how ridiculous those views are.
It is like being offended at Southpark or Team America.

This response is so perplexing to me. People who are offended by this should have figured out by now that all media formats are teeming with this kind of material. It amazes me that people still complain about offensive material they find on the Internet or from some TV show. Really? It must be pretty damn hard to possess this perspective and go a day without feeling incensed or wronged or offended somehow. Panties permanently in a bunch, so to speak.

On the other hand, there are certain places you can go where peope still value common decency, show manners, respect others, and generally act like kind human beings. This place is (generally) one of them.
Just because it's the internet doesn't automatically mean we need to sink to the lowest common denomintoar - the RCMB. We can actually hold people to a higher standard, AND be pleased that we do.

Making a joke about jews being good lawyers is something incorporated in jokes everywhere. If I said that asians are typically diligent and place a high value on education, am I anti-asian? No. If anything, I am giving them a compliment in my eyes. If you don't like the joke, thats one thing. But don't go around saying that the joke was anti-semitic.

Thanks. If you don't like to respond to facts, then don't. By any possible measure, median income, median education level, life expectancy, and several others, Asians as compared to every other group, including my own, have a better outcome. The government actually keeps these statistics. Check them out, or not, or just sigh. It's all good.
BTW, if your point is that everyone likes to be treated as an individual rather than as a group representative, everyone knows that already. My point is that there are far far worse things in life than when someone assumes you are better than you might be.

Anti-semitism does not just include only "negative" comments about a person. There's plenty of stereotypes that are quite obviously anti-semtic and yet could be viewed as "compliments": control over media, banks, Hollywood, etc.

Are Jewish people statistically more likely to hold certain positions than the general population? I'm not sure that's the case anymore, but for centuries it was true in europe because Jews were shut out of many professions.
Acknowledging the fact that there are many Jewish doctors / lawyers / bankers / jewelers isn't anti-semitic, depending on the context.
Which in this case was a joke taken verbatim from a popular tv series.
