I am shocked that they got a quality FA to choose Detroit as a destination. Traditionally, the only athletes who choose to play in Detroit are hockey players or FA's who are scrambling after the more desirable teams have filled their slots. I know that there are plenty of exceptions to this statement, but the word "Detroit" is usually a major stumbling block for attracting FA's in any sport.
This signing could be as important to the Lions as the signing of Pudge Rodriguez was for the Tigers; Detroit still isn't a "destination city," but at least the Tigers are able to attract some good players through free agency now.
Wouldn't it be great if Reggie Bush became the Pudge Rodriguez of the Lions? Imagine the Lions actually being able to compete for high-level FA's.
