In the D.C. area, it's been said that the interview with Franklin was cancelled yesterday. I guess the reason has been revealed. I would have been happy with either hire, but Jay has been the talk of a lot of "soon to be head coach" talk for a few years.

I have been hearing on the radio that Penn State hiring Franklin is imminent, but I have no quotable source.

That's where he really had his own rise, from what I remember back in the day. I was really surprised when the Bengals gave him an OC position straight from that job. It'll be interesting to see how it works out, he does have HC experience at that AFL level.

I totally forgot about his exploints in the AFL. Good pull.

I hope he is the answer to the Redskins plight over the past 14 years. He is stepping into a toxic envrionment and a toxic fanbase, who will be quick to axe him. I have lived in D.C. since I was a kid and it's been a total tire fire since the late 90's with HC's here. I will never understand Snyder firing Schottenheimer, but that's long ago now. I digress.

Good luck to him and I hope this is the kick in the ass that the skins need to turn this franchise back around.

Jay was a QB for the TB Storm in the AFL and won a title there. He then became an OC for the Nashville Kats before becoming HC of the Orlando Predators, where he won a couple of titles. Strange thing is, he came out of retirement to become the QB of the Predators for a short time, then re-retired to become the coach again after the Predators HC Fran Papaserdero died.

Very successful as a HC in the arena league, so we will see if that translates to the NFL...

At this point, I hope you're right. But he does have other interviews lined up, so if the Lions let him walk out of the room without an agreement, who knows. He can't officially be hired though so it's a tough spot.

did not wait for him, tells that he is not going to be available. Redskins job was supposed to be very attractive to him because of RGIII.  There is no buzz regarding him going anywhere else.  Of course, Lions can always screw it up, I think they are going to get lucky and get their man this time.

The Lions' biggest challenge is that everyone in the NFL knows they want Wisenhunt, and the longer they have to wait to even interview him, the better chance another team has of slipping in first and hiring him out from under Detroit.

The way things go for the Lions, SD is going to go on an offensive explosion, beating Denver, New England and an NFC team; Wisenhunt will be the "hot" candidate, and someone else will steal him away.

Assuming the Lions are willing to pay, what would another team offer that's going to get him to go there? The Lions are easily the most attractive opening available, so if Wisenhunt has his picks and the money isn't an issue, what's going to get a team like Tennessee or Minnesota to hire him out from under Detroit?

Chuckie's Little Bro?

Does Chuckie criticize the Reskins O when they will be on MNF... or maybe bc Skins are so bad, they wont be in MNF this year.

I live in DC metro area but am not a Skins fan. I have full confidence Dannyboy will eff this up too, like he always does.

Hand knowledge from my buddy who is linked to a sports agency. And he told me last year that John Gruden would not leave the booth until his brother Jay got a head coaching job. He was feeling that as long as he was in the running for jobs that his brother would not get a fair look. Now that his brother has been hired expect John Gruden to start looking for that "one" job he likes. Just some inside info. Makes sense though doesn't it.

Not to change the subject but I tried to pick the least relevant thread in the past few hours to post this...

Tabor flipped to Florida?! Arizona went nuts when they got him. Then, a few weeks later...'JK, Florida is my spot' type stuff. Dude is a playmaker, but this is deep trolling.

Arizona has to be butthurt.

I'm always going to think of this guy as an Arena Football coach. I don't mean that as a negative, I was just Arena Football fan back in his days in the league. RIP Rampage
