Thanks for finishing the game for the Red team.
I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
Thanks for finishing the game for the Red team.
Eaves just wants a hug.
Yeah! On to game 4 if they can just get off the damned ice!
Wings win 3-1!!!
Thursday is gonna be fun!
I love seeing the Hawks angry and frustrated. The refs helped them out all night and they STILL couldn't get it done.
I guess I'd be pissed too if I were them.
That goalie interference that called off the Chi goal was fairly questionable, albeit seemingly a make up call for the no call on Franzen getting hit from behind with Chi scoring their first goal on the ensuing rush. Overall I thought it was more or less evenly officiated.
Seemed to go the Hawks way early in the game and then the Wings way late.
Even if you add in the goal, it would have been Detroit 3 Chicago 2
But that would have changed the whole dynamic of the game. Comparable to the Burke block being called a foul with a few minutes left in champ game - sure we lost by 6 but those 2 would have made the finish completely different
really makes that a wash though.
I don't think the hawks can actually play well angry...
Just win out at the Joe and we have ourselves a ticket to the Western Conference Finals! Keep up the aggression Wings!
Wasn't Chicago supposed to be past the "We're losing a game, so let's start throwing punches" phase of their franchise? Instead this is just a repeat of the '09 Hawks so far
feel like game 4 is just as big now. Don't want to hand over home ice so we gotta put the stranglehold on in game 4
There's no way Shaw has anything beyond a 4th grade education.
I want a hockey night in a canada towel. Too bad they are extremely rare. Only players of the game interviewed by the CBC get them.
Ha ha, CBC just broke down the Datsyuk goal all the way from the defensive zone. Kane was close to Datsyuk back there, but he coasted down the ice, and Datsyuk skated and wound up all alone on the left wing.
Roenick is a terrible analyst. He's jump stumbling over his words.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
about that goalie interference call, it was a very bad call, but that no call on the Franzen play makes that a wash. Gotta love the Hawks getting pushed around physically, getting frustrated, and having to resort to cross-checks and boarding guys. First time in awhile I can remember the Wings frustrating a team with their physical play.
What was so bad about it? The guy was definitely in the crease giving Howard no room. I've seen Homer have goals waved off for less.
pinned in though. It looked like Howard still had enough room to make the save to me. Though looking at the rule, I would probally rephrase from very bad to questionable though, as you can certainly argue that he was impeding Howard to some degree. And yes Homer did have numerous phantom calls made on him based on his reputation, no disagreement with that.
Whatever the case it isn't revelant, Chicago had a goal given to them on a non-call, so it is wash, and they have no room to complain about the outcome. The team that deserved to win the game did.
The Hawks should worry more about the fact that the less talented team in the series is physically dominating them. Basically the Wings are doing to Chicago what some teams have done to the Wings in the past, all be it in a more clean manner than those teams.
I don't see what Kindl has to do with it - he wasn't pushing the guy into the crease.
him the oppurtunity to get out though. And the player being in the crease does not make it interference according to the rule. It is basically a judgement call if the goaltender was given enough room to make the save.
But like I said whatever anybody's opinion on that call is, the Hawks got a gift on the no call on Franzen so it is really irrelevant to the outcome. That is why Quenneville has no room to bitch about it, regardless of whether it was the right call or not.
Bull. The guy could have gone back out on the weakside the way he got in. And being in the crease on the puckside seems to me to be a pretty sure way to get a goal waved off.
does not automatically make it a no goal. It basically comes to a judgement call about whether the goaltender was given the room to make the save, if the player is not making direct contact with the goalie in the crease.
Upong further thinking after my initial post, I think it is a call that can be argued is technically correct, but is not a call that is not consistently made on that type of play. That second part is why Chicago had a problem with it.
Like I said though it is ultimately irrelevant, as the Franzen play has been called boarding all year and in the playoffs, and Chicago never would of gotten back in the game had that been called in the first place.
says that it's interference if the attacking player's presence impairs the goaltender's ability to defend his goal. I was surprised they called it, but I think the call was the right one in the technical sense.
It was 100% the right call. Don't need contact to be goalie interference. You just need to be in the crease on your initiative in a way that prevents the goaltender from maneuvering freely to make a play on the puck. Which Shaw did.
NBC is dumb, CBC rules, volume a billion.
But that's not the way people are used to seeing the rule applied. He was screening Howard with both feet squarely inside the crease (at least for a second, which I'm sure is when the referee went from looking at the action within the circle over to Howard and the slot), so it's tough to feel sorry for him, but I doubt very much that even the Wings on the ice felt they would get that call.
Reminds me of his daze in Colorado, can't win? Then goon it up. Yup Joel your behind the bench, you blow this one and Scotty will drop your sorry ass off the Navy pier.
Reminds me of when he was in St. Louis. Never could beat the Wings.
I pray I do not have to listen to Eddie Olcyzk another game in this series. If they have him up there it is only fair to have Mick there.
If you're in the Michigan area the games are usually broadcast on CBC, the Canadian channel. Hockey night in Canada is one of the true glories that come with Michigan residence.
One of the things I miss most now in Chicago. This was my first hockey season living away from MI, and Saturday night was definitely not the same without HNIC. At least CNBC was picking up the feed for some first round games.
HE TOOK THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN GOIN AAAANYYYYWHERRRRRRE....
by how well the Wings have played thus far. The two day break between now and Thursday could really help the Wings again with their legs. Not quite the same jump tonight as game 2.
could be a hell of a game if Chicago brings an edge and Wings match their play from game 2.
Chicago is just so damn good at keeping and moving the puck in their zone, so far the pucks haven't bounced their way in the last 2 games. Hope it can stay that way because I'm holding my breathe every time they have a sustained cycle.
Even if you're not a fan of the Wings, watching them execute a Box+1 is nothing short of great hockey. Even when they have so much talent on offense, if you can take away the player who the offense flows though the wheels fall off.
Wings 3rd and 4th lines owning the Hawks 3rd and 4th lines.
Hey Bickell, please cross-check the ref and give us another powerplay!
Duncan, Seabrook ,Keith, Brent. Wait thats only two guys? Well, you both suck!
Thursday night is our chance to put their head on the curb.
When I last checked if I got CBC-HD, I didn't. This game convinced me to check again and surprisingly I have it.
Goodbye NBC! Your analysis is horrendous.
