Neither one unexpected. A great honor, but huge shows to fill for Zetterberg and the end of a great career for Holmstrom.

Homer NO!!!!!!
Lloyd Brady is my homeboy...for real he is!
but I am sure that his back and the backs of his legs are happy. Good luck! Not much that needs to be said about Zetterberg.

When the winds of changes shift
I expect Z to continue in the Stevie Y/Lids role of a quit, effective leader. Homer was a truly great one, but his time had come, and hopefully this keeps him from having the kind of injury that another couple hundred whacks from goalies might cause. This should be the year where the Wings get a lot younger, and some of the kiddies that have been up and down from GR get a chance to prove that they belong with the big team.
There are some good looking players in Grand Rapids right now. Nyquist and Tatar have been good, Billins and Sheahan have been impressive as rookies. They also have a young kid who has played very well since his call up named Luke Glendening...
:( I'm pretty sure Homer is the last member of the 1997-98 cup is he not?
"Ohio is like a giant turd that Michigan just can't pinch off"
This also leaves Datsyuk as the last member of the 01-02 cup team.
With the Red Wings, yes. And darn close to the last one still playing. Knuble is technically the last one.
Homer was also on the 96-97 team. It was his rookie season. He was indeed the last of 97-98 as well though.
Holstrom's been a great player for the Wings for the past 15 seasons. It'll be tough not seeing him hanging out in front of the net. As for Zetterberg, it's a great choice. All in all, very happy to see the NHL back in business.
Zetterberg was also on the 01-02 team I believe. Wasn't it Hull,Datsyuk, Z line that was so fun to watch together.
Congrats to Z, and thanks to Homer, the Demolition Man - took a beating in front of the net and kept going back for more.
Michigan Resurgent? Michigan Resurgent!
The beatings will continue until the uniforms improve!
was so stacked. Just looking at the names and reminiscing about how many HoF'ers were on that team.
Goodbye and thank you Homer. Congrats Hank.
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

Everyone knew it. Watching him get moved so easily in front of the net last year, he knew he wasn't coming back.
Homer got the hell beat out of him in front of the net for 15 years. Great team player who will be missed.
Wow I cant believe its been 15 years since the 97 cup... time flies.
one of my favorites. Thanks for a great career
