All I need to know is is Luke Glendening still on the Wings or did they send him back to GR?

Those four I listed were the only players who had to fight to make a roster spot.

We still have 11 other players around the NHL:

Kevin Porter - Buffalo

Max Pacioretty - Montreal

Andrew Cogliano - Anaheim

Mike Brown - Edmonton

Al Montoya - Winnipeg

Carl Hagelin - Rangers

Mike Cammalleri - Calgary

Jack Johnson - Columbus

Eric Nystrom - Nashville

David Moss - Phoenix

Mike Komisarek - Carolina

Winnipeg wasn't going to fool with his development by bringing him up unless he showed in preseason that he could skate against an NHL lineup.

He played his way onto the roster. If he didn't have an outstanding training camp Ian White wouldn't have been cut, and Trouba would be in the AHL with St. John's.

Also I think the fact Zach Redmond still has a two way contract added to letting White go and Trouba stay.  I for one hope Redmond can make it back to the NHL after almost losing his life on the ice last season.

Not to knock Porter but Buffalo doesn't exactly have enormous talent at any postion.  Porter has been beaten out by rookies Grigorenko and Johan Larsson. Hodgson is the only guy with any real NHL experience at centre for Buffalo.

I love Babs and Holland but I find it pretty crappy that Nyquist is in GR and that Tatar is relegated to the bench until an injury arises. Yet we managed to find roster space for Dan Cleary yet again...nepotism will be the downfall of this organization some day.

I think that this has to do with inane salary cap rules.  They can't alleviate Bert or Samuelsson's sarly cap hit unless somebody claims them off of waivers.  They put Samuelsson out there and nobody bit.  So they are basically stuck with them.

and then put two past Ryan Miller, going up high with a beautiful Samuelson tip-in and a gorgeous backhander by the best player in hockey, Pavel Datsyuk, well, next to his linemate.

The thing that I hadn't really considered before tonight's game is the fact that the Wings will finally play in the Eastern time zone and face off against original six teams most of the season, teams we rarely get to see the Wings play against. This ought to be fun. The Wings look sharp.

And on Friday night, they come to NC to play Carolina in Raleigh. .

I saw that Corey Tropp was supposed to be playing for the Sabres until he broke his jaw in a fight last week. For any of you that remember his hit on Kampfer a couple of weeks back, you may want to google the clip of this fight as it'll restore your faith that what comes around goes around.
