OT: The Red Wings FINALLY Win the Good Old Hockey Game!

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on

MAN OH MAN. The 6 games of horror are OVER! What a comeback though and you have to give this team credit, they fought back hard because after the Canes had two goals in 17 seconds I seriously was on the verge of changing it but tremendous effort by the Wings in not qutting in this one. If we can get a little streak going or win out come game 1 of round 1 I'll be feeling very confident about our chances. Need to get hot going in and if Detroit can win out they'll have great momentum going into the quarterfinals! Injuries or no injuries I'm proud of the resilency this team showed! Let's get 6 or 7 more! GO WINGS GO!

On a side note the Rangers could seriously do some damage in the playoffs this year. New York looks like the real deal.

Right now we are a tough team to beat. The blueliners are healthy and Callahan is back, Richards is tearing shit up, but at the same time our offense is so unpredictable we never know what is coming.

Needed to get some momentum back heading into the playoffs. We were the worst team in the NHL for a while there. We should be fine as long as we get our shit figured out. When the wings are rolling on all cylinders they're nearly unstoppable. I'm not worried about any team we could face in the playoffs as much as I am the team looking like they did for that stretch we just witnessed.

playoffs were with Detroit going way out west to Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton etc. Any distance not traveled that far for a first round matchup is music to my ears.

I am very happy with then win. Doesn't it seem like at the end of each season right before playoffs we kind of go on a losing slide? It seems like that the last few years the month of March wasn't to kind to us. Either way, I would rather get healthy and lose a few games at the end of the season and get prepared for playoffs. Go Wings!

I would say they are a very good team, but i have questions about them in the playoffs.

THey seem to be playing really well right now, and one of the few teams that truly brings it every night. However i'm not sure how much higher their cceiling is.  COmbine that with having played their best throughout the year, and its possible they run out of gas in the playoffs. Other teams ratchet the intensity up in the playoffs, not sure that will be possible for them.  That being said, right now they are certainly one of the best teams in the league, and will be a tough out, but hockey playoffs are brutal.

And we have the fortune of playing a home and home with the cellar-dwellars of the NHL, the Blue Jackets, the next two games. It would be nice if we could take both of those games, it would put us in good shape to hold onto that home ice advantage for the playoffs.

So good to have Lidstrom back.  Hope the injured Wings continue to get healthy for the stretch & playoff run.

Amazing comeback, after the Wings gave up really early goals in the first (17s) and second (26s) periods, then back-to-back (17s apart) PPGs in the second.

Hard to believe that was at the Joe - it was open season on Homer.  I just checked the boxscore for that first period WTF: Gleason crosschecked Homer into his goalie for free, and Homer got called for goalie interference!?!  Then Gleason punched him in the face and got called for roughing.
