Can't wait for the Eastern conference next year. Can't stand playing these pricks.

You have to be aware of who is on the ice. Fuck you Getzlaf. You piece of shit. This game is pretty much over

This is going pretty much the same way as the Nashville series last year.  Wings come home 1-1 and just refuse to play fucking hockey.  Mark it down, Ducks in five.

Maybe it's just me, but why was Lashoff called to replace the injured DeKeyser? White, and Colaiacovo seem like the better options, they at least have playoff experience.

At least they made the playoffs to keep the streak alive.

Been a stupid year anyways. Half of a season + no winter classic= fuck you Bettman

Man, some people on here need to get some perspective. I know the Red Wings were a trendy pick to upset the Ducks, but c'mon, there's a reason they were a 2-seed and the Wings barely snuck into the playoffs.

The Wings were inconsistent all year on the blueline, had spotty forward play, and for the first half of the season our PP was borderline unwatchable. Exactly everything we saw tonight. Add on to the fact that the biggest reason we even made the playoffs (DeKeyser) is now out for 6 weeks, and yeah, we're gonna have an upward climb.

People around town somehow forgot the first 30 games of the season.  It's a young team that does not have as much top notch talent as Anaheim.  If Lidstrom and Stuart were still here, maybe this would be different, but they're not.  That doesn't mention the free pass Ken Holland seems to get around town.

At least someone here has some decent perspective on this team. I love the wings as much as the next metro Detroiter, but come on people. This is a rebuilding year. To call a team that is a 7 seed rebuilding speaks to the quality of this franchise.

The Wings are do not have the depth on the blue line for a team composed of Cogs, Perry, Getzlaf and Teemu.

Outside of the first two periods in game two, the wings have been out classed and out played. Wings looking like the team for the first 30 games. They should all be embarrassed. Lots of soul searching before game four on Monday.

Maybe next year holland might actually add some players to this team instead of going with the same roster who continue to get pwnd in the playoffs. Here's to wishful thinking.

The Wings are in a horrible position right now. All the stars are aging, Franzen has an absurd contract, and there are a bunch of meh players who aren't championship caliber. Bringing in some super-priced free agents isn't a solution, since we'll have to deal whatever prospects we have that might actually be worth a damn. The future could be pretty damn bleak a few years down the line

It could be really bleak, and there's no telling how long it could last.  Look at the two best teams in the league right now -- Chicago and Pittsburgh.  What do they both have in common?  They got good by being really terrible and getting high draft picks in multiple years.  In Pittsburgh's case, they got really lucky in that they got two guys (Crosby and Malkin) who are once-a-decade type talents.  But in the early to mid-oughts, both of those franchises were absolutely wretched.

There's no guarantee that high draft picks lead to future success.  Just look at Columbus and Winnipeg/Atlanta.  They have sucked forever.

Nothing like my fellow wings fans embarrasing themselves by blaming the refs. I am willing to bet none of you have played a second of hockey in your lives.

If you want someone to blame. Look at Ken Holland. He had the job of replacing Lidstrom and he did a terrible job. Especially when you look at it from the angle we depended on the recent WMU player Dekeyser to get us in the playoffs.

edit: How the fuck is this trolling? Wake up Wings fans. Not my fault I can see this situation without red and white glasses.

He didn't offer as much as Minnesota and he could have. Holland needs to go. He is tired, and I don't blame him for being tired. He had a great run and was the best. He paid Bertuzzi and Samuleson way too much money.

That's something I rarely say, and I definitely feel qualified to make that judgement, at the very least as much as anyone saying the referees were fine.

There's no reason anyone needs to have played to have an opinion on the game, and just makes the argument look weak. Look at softball, Patrick Murphy hasn't played an inning of softball in his life and won a national title last year.

Replacing Lidstrom was an impossible job.  But if you ask me, Holland can be criticized for not getting more forward talent to work with in the free agent market the past couple of years.  Holland has been sitting on a shitload of cap space lately for no discernable reason.  Just to give you some perspective, you could swap out Dan Cleary or Valtteri Filppula for Alex Ovechkin or and still be under the cap.

the playoff streak in the offseason, so call me pleasantly surprised. I've been one of those guys that gives Ken Holland a pass, but not so much anymore. I kept expecting moves out of him coming up to deadline but he just shit the bed. Tootoo is what we got. Wow. I hate to think of what it might mean, but I think the day is drawing near that the whole thing needs to be blown up and rebuilt.

It was a nice 20 year run but the reality is this team is in the rebuilding phase. I hope they have good scouts and coaches to get the team back to playing good hockey in a few more years. Only time will tell if they can complete the rebuilding process. All dynasty come to an end! I was too young to remember the glory years of the 50s. I was all excited when the Wings made the playoffs in '78 and we beat the Atlanta Flames. The wings were not that good back when I was a kid, the only thing we had was Reid Larson! but they slowly improved during the 80s.
