If they wind up losing this somehow, I nominate you for emperor of Bolivia.
OT: Red Wings to clinch 22nd straight playoff spot
Haha I was hoping not to jinx them but I'm feeling pretty confident.
If you jinx this we will come after you with pitchforks.
More importantly: GO WINGS
"*If the Minnesota Wild lose both of their remaining games, the Red Wings automatically make the playoffs."
Tonight is Minnesota's last game.
Haha good call. That's what I get for plagiarizing old info
Being the Wild, it's actually quite possible for them to lose two games in one sixty minute period of regulation. This is how teams like Colombus and Edmonton have compiled such atrocious records in recent years.
Wow what a save!!!
Bring on the Ducks
If we don't win I will find you. I don't know what I will do yet, but I will think of something on the drive there, and it will be bad, believe that.
EDIT: Wings win. Threat redacted
They have really come on of late. If Yale can win as the last team in, no reason the Wings can't win as a 7th seed.
Detroit isn't going up against Quinnipiac. . .
And they have to - you know - play best of 7 series. No way Yale beats Quinnipiac in a 7 game series. No way.
Michigan would probably have 5-10 more frozen four appearances
looking pretty good right now, would be the 4th win in a row after a brutal 7 game stretch. 22 years in a row in the playoffs is quite a record. could be bad news for anaheim....
They just need to tie in regulation. They are up 3-0 with 1:19 to go and on power play.
and a half season ticket holder (split with my cousin), all I can say is BOOOOOOOO!
Hey, blame Minnesota (or Colorado)
We went on was exciting but the start of the season was a joke. I can tell you nobody wanted to face the CBJ in the playoffs, we were by far the hottest team. Now I have to root for Colorado to score two goals and hold Minnesota scoreless.
As a Blue Jackets fan, what a disappointing end to a fantastic last two months of hockey. Columbus played excellent in March and April and unfortunately it still wasn't enough. Detroit played well down the stretch and they deserve their playoff spot, but, I wish Columbus made the postseason too.
Quack quack quack, bring on Emilio.
Hard to believe that there are men sitting in bars, hoisting beers (at a legal age to do so) to a team that has never missed the playoffs in their entire lives. Just unreal.
I was going back through the hockey databases after the game was over - it really is a wonderful run. The last time the Red Wings failed to make the playoffs, I was in 7th grade, and in my entire life to date, they've only missed the playoffs seven times (only twice since I was 5 years old). I don't know how many teams could claim that overall level of performance for that long, even with the relatively varied level of success in the playoffs. Truly an incredible run for the Red Wings.
Even crazier..I was 1.
used to be able to claim that level of success.
Yeah, especially in a day and age of parity and salary cap. Truly something to appreciate.
... all Original Six teams last made it to the playoffs in 1996.
I'm happy for the Wings, but they run into a good Anaheim team. Not sure if they can win that series.
took 2 of 3 from Anaheim during the season, and Anaheim has only been a .500 team since they started the season 22-3. If the Red Wings play like they did down the stretch they have every oppurtunity to knock off Anaheim, and would have at least a shot against SJ or Vancouver in round two. The only team I don't think the Wings would have any shot against in the West is Chicago, so hopefully somebody can upset them.
If we beat the ducks we will most likely play the Blackhawks in the next round.
saw the bracket they showed on FSN and forgot that things are reshuffled after each round. So hopefully Minnesota can pull a shocker against Chicago, I think Minnesota has the talent to at least give Chicago some trouble, if they can pull it together.
Agreed they have the talent and we know all it takes is a hot goalie to beat a superior team in the playoffs.
I like our chances against the Ducks. Wings have looked as good as anyone recently.
Down voted me, DUCKS in four.
Fuck the Red Wings!!!
that there are actually Blue Jacket fans?
I figured the blue jackets have about 7 fans. Hard to picture Columbus truck drivers yelling Let's Go Blue.....Jackets.
Unless you count minor league baseball and some college team that the "truck drivers" seem to like.
I appreciate people like you who support teams like the Blue Jackets. I have had enough of all the "social media" front-runners who wanted Jimmy gone after the Calgary game and now all of the sudden they are posting "Howard 4 MVP!"
but there were honestly "lifetime Blackhawks/hockey fans" who were trying to say they should unload Kane earlier this year. I can't stand reading most of the garbage that sports fans post, which is probably why I get most of my sports conversations done here or in person.
Anyway, I also like it when people don't use the LeBron James process to find teams to root for. Hockey wouldn't be what it is if everyone was an Original Six fan.
Was very confident we would be in by winning. Beer taste better after a win. Time for some duck hunting 1985 style
For me that would've been with the light zapper
WOO HOO! The streak is alive!! Go Wings!!!
The wings have never not been in the playoffs since I've been alive :)
Great win for the Red Wings! One hockey streak ending this year, was one streak too many - happy for the wings' playoff streak continuing!
Would the Wings be first in the west right now?
Go Wings Go! Awesome way to clinch and extend the playoff streak with 4 straight wins to finish the season.
Usually the wings are the team to beat. Hopefully being underdogs will take off the usual pressure of the top rated regular season team. I like how this team gelled during the last month. I think they will beat out the Ducks and the Chicago series may be quite competitive. If the Black Hawks fall behind the wings, who knows, the Hawks may choke!
