OT: Reason(s) we hate Pam Ward
As we have all heard by now, Pam Ward will be calling the Michigan @ IU game this Saturday on ESPNU. I can't stand this women for many reasons so I thought it would be fun to see why everyone else also severely dislikes her.
I can't stand her because she totally kills the players names and couldn't diagnose a play if it was right in front of her face.
How about the mgocommunity?

Is it because she is particular a'bout punctuation?
September 27th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
Who is Reason and why does his "we" hate Pam Ward?
September 27th, 2010 at 8:30 PM ^
I think the headline means that a guy named Reason wrote a book/article called "We hate Pam Ward." Sounds like a good read.

Let me be the first to say:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 27th, 2010 at 7:34 PM ^
I'm thinking I'm prolly gonna make the 13-hour round trip to see the game in person, just so I don't have to listen to her butcher the game on TV
September 27th, 2010 at 7:42 PM ^
I had already planned on going to this game, but now the fact that ol' Pammy is calling it makes me even happier I'm making a similar 12-hour round trip trek.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:35 PM ^
I hate Pam Ward because the first three times I watched a game she called, I couldn't tell if she was a man or a woman.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:09 PM ^
How can you tell now?
September 27th, 2010 at 10:19 PM ^
She hadn't been named "Francis" or "Pat". At least with "Pam" you've got a fighting chance of figuring it out.
September 28th, 2010 at 10:00 AM ^
The first four games I heard her, I thought she was a bottle of cooking spray.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:35 PM ^
In December 2009, Ward disrespected an injured Marshall Football player by stating, "Dammit...Get him off the field please...Hurry up!"
September 27th, 2010 at 8:26 PM ^
For years I felt like Pam Ward had no real passion in football announcing and she was just doing it for the paycheck. I always kind of felt bad though, like I was being too hard on her. Then when I saw that clip I realized I'd been right all along and gave into my hatred. I hate her because she is no talent hack that somehow got a gig due to social connections and is blocking some good announcer from getting a job.

"somehow" = equal opportunity at the expense of quality expertise

for a Flomax bowl update."
I just love inadvertant piss jokes.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:32 PM ^
I tried finding the video where at the end of a tied basketball game the clock ticks down and Pam Ward says "and this game is OVER...no...I'm sorry, we're going to overtime. OVERTIME it is!" What.the.hell.
It's been erased from the internet, apparently. Not even Awful Announcing has it anymore. I don't know what happened to it.
September 27th, 2010 at 10:10 PM ^
Jesus tapdancing christ in a handbasket. I hadn't seen this clip until now; how does she still have a job?!
September 27th, 2010 at 11:57 PM ^
Just...WOW!!
How can anyone be so heartless. What a beeeeyotch!!
I had never seen nor heard of this before now. Now I know to particularly dislike this heshe.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:03 PM ^
I still can''t believe she wasn't removed after that. It's probably the most appalling thing a football commentator has said on-air since Jimmy the Greek.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
I think the clip where the one announcer overly describes a player's soft hands and the other one replies with "That... thats kind of gay." is tied with this or a very close second.
September 28th, 2010 at 12:02 AM ^
Yeah, but at least that was funny, Pam Ward's just an idiot.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:36 PM ^
Simulcast. Beckman. Brandstatter.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:11 PM ^
I've already looked up a couple of radio feeds to play while my TV is muted. As for the OP, I hate Pam Ward because she calls the action about fifteen seconds after it happens.
September 28th, 2010 at 7:16 PM ^
Anything online stream audio of the game?
September 27th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
How about her general lack of knowing anything about football or the players that play it?
September 27th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
I would stream the radio broadcast of the game on my computer, turn up the volume, leave the tv on, and turn down the tv volume. That is all that needs to be done.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:07 PM ^
I plan on watching the game with the TV muted, and the radio turned up.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
Because literally every damn time she calls a game I have to google her to prove to both my mother and father that she is in fact, a woman (...right?).
September 27th, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
Plus her name backwards is Map Draw. It's just unnatural to have whole words come out of that.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:50 PM ^
If there's one treasure I hope never to uncover on a Map, it's hers.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
That dude sucks!
September 27th, 2010 at 7:55 PM ^
Be nice to Pam, he has feelings.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
I don't understand how she gets away with being a terrible announcer and unattractive....i feel that women have to have at least one of those aspects. in order to get the job ...but she somehow has fooled her employers.
September 27th, 2010 at 7:57 PM ^
Bribery.
Hopefully not sex though.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:07 PM ^
Makes me wonder about Dana Jacobson as well
September 27th, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
You bite your tongue sir, Dana Jacobson is a legend.
EDIT: Who disagrees with me? Lest we forget this epic event: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/25/dana-jacobson-suspended-b_n_82908.html

She should've been fired for the f Jesus comment
September 28th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
It's a bit offensive, but I like to think that she was more thinking about Touchdown Jesus and just left the Touchdown bit off of it when she said that. Regardless, I have a hard time disliking someone that hosts a nationally televised sports show and signs off shows frequently with "Go Blue."
September 28th, 2010 at 1:56 AM ^
If she actually just said F*** Notre Dame and not the other stuff, she should get a medal. I mean geeze, we have the Knute Rockne story, Rudy and just about all sorts of other ND propaganda.....And did Rockne ever play Yost? No.....Chicken....

and Suzyn Waldman of YES Network / Yankees fame. (shiver)
September 27th, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
I love this board
September 27th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
This is an easy one for me:
She has zero emotion. None. She could just as easily be reading her cable bill as announcing a Michigan touchdown. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but it sucks all excitement out of the game (and just plain sucks).
September 27th, 2010 at 8:07 PM ^
I have absolutely no issue with women calling sports. Even football. A professional play by play person should be clear, concise, defer properly to the color person, make spot-on observations and pronounce names correctly. Someone who is cool and rational and lets the game unfold with a subtle narrative. Do those things, and I'll overlook the weirdness, the alien-ness of a woman's voice during an exciting moment when Denard busts a tackle and is in the open field, or when James Rogers steps in and makes a huge pick at a critical part of the game. Be Brad Nessler with tits, and I'm all for you.
Pam Ward has none of those attributes. She is a perfect storm of fucked up.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:18 PM ^
Definitely, I'd be happy with someone like Erin Andrews (even if we didn't see her) because she's enthusiastic and seems to genuinely know her stuff.
Pam Ward reminds me of the substitute announcer from Major League. "Fly ball...caught.
September 27th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
that was awesome!

of lucidity.
Thanks.

She and Drew Carey have something in common.

A penis?
September 27th, 2010 at 7:55 PM ^
That the person who created the mute button knew Pam was going to be born and become a sportscaster.
September 27th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
Because I can't have her.
