OT: RCMB does something cool

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

I know a lot of us laugh at the RCMB most of the time, but I thought this was pretty cool of them to do. A lot of the posters ordered pizzas and the like for the izzone while they wait outside for the game tonight. It would be a good idea for Michigan fans to do the same for the msu game when it comes up.

I guess the amount of pizza is kind of a story. Sparty fans are donating a lot. I wonder why?

The Michigan game last week was a must win for the Spartan psyche. They can not slip behind in both basketball and football. They were so proud a few years ago and it has been rough last couple years for them.

They need to get the excitement back in their programs. If they lose to IU and drop tough road games at OSU and UM, they are essentially right back to where they were before they hosted UM. The fans are pumping each other up because they can't imagine going back to that so soon. They are bonding and rallying with pizza and the Izzone.

Lets see how it plays out.

Yup it was in the ESPN pictures for the One Day thingy.

Also, in the past, Beilein has done similar things for students waiting in line for stuff.  (GA seating, ticket sales, greeting the team when they get back home from a road trip, etc.)

So, basically, the RCMB people are not doing anything that hasn't done before, and therefore can go back to being considered as a form of life less than human.

Didn't the MGoBlog community generate over $50,000 for Hail To The Victors through the kickstart program?  And what about the Pahokee project?  Mott's Children's Hospital?

Yea.  Pizza's are nice but I like what our community has done.

Are the pizzas Dominos? If so Dave Brandon gets the last laugh!
In all seriousness, that is a really nice thing to keep those kids engaged and perked up for 7 o'clock... After Tuesday, I'm expecting big things from the atmosphere

Too bad the goodwill didn't extend to the company delivering the pizzas.  Apparently the national chain (Little Caesars) went too far in wishing both teams good luck.  Just a couple samplings followed by the LC tweet:

"WTF is a Michigan company wishing luck to the Hoosiers for?"

"Good luck to both teams?" Those cocky sons of bitches...

We're glad  was chosen to help  this afternoon. Good luck to both teams in tonight's game!

And this is why we do not follow whatever Sparty does.  Someone will always resort to the LCD.

Who do you guys think Michigan should root for tonight? Seems obvious to root against MSU, but thinking about the Big Ten title race, do we want a top team getting a road win like this?

Looking at their schedules, Indiana still has some tough games so I think it's okay (and natural) to root for Indiana tonight

Look, I can steal shit from work, redistribute it, and pretend it's charitable any time I want.

Didja see all those homeless folks on Skid Row hauling around aircraft engines back in 2004?  ME.

"RCMB doing something cool" would have to be the whole site folding and the members turning themselves into the local police station to be arrested for egregious assholery.  Otherwise no.

Campus police were called to stop them from giving away unauthorized t-shirts along with the pizza, according to another RCMB thread with the title "MSU just [expletive removed by Spunky B] to the the police about the pizza and tshirts." Sounds like a mess to me.

Wow I didn't think people would be so snarky about this. I realize RCMB is pretty childish sometimes compared to here, but it's snowing with 25 mph winds and people have been waiting in line all day. I just thought it was nice that a good amount of people on their board cared enough to get them some food. I guess since I'm in college right now I see it as a prettty nice thing of fans and alumni to do.

I'd say especially seeing how the OSU game went, the passion is there, but the layout of Crisler will never let it get there. We get 500 students courtside, that's it, no behind the basket seats and section 130 doesn't really do much. Izzone and a lot of other student sections benefit a lot from their seating layout. Which really makes me mad when I look across and see all the empty seats in the lower levels at Crisler.

100% agree. My friend and I were actually talking about this at the game Sunday. The atmosphere would benefit tenfold if we could even get some Rage seats behind each basket. The atmosphere suffers greatly from the large majority of the lower bowl - the so-called blue hairs who don't get much into the game. It's pathetic that the lower bowl was half empty during the rededication Sunday. I feel like even the alumni season ticket holders at the Breslin show up early and contribute to the atmosphere at the Breslin.
