OT: RAGSNOWROK Open Thread

I'm in Connecticut, and the governor declared a state of emergency beginning at 9pm EST. My establishment of employment is officially closed until said state is lifted, and it might not happen until Wednesday midday.

How's everyone on the east coast handling things thus far? Do we drink? Or do we re-enact a disaster film?

It's going to get down to 41 for a low im Central Florida tonight. Highs are in the 60's this week. To everyone that has to deal with the snowstorm, stay safe and be careful.

In my home in SE Michigan, living about a mile or so south of the main tower at Metro Airport, it is 17 degrees, clear for the most part, and rather dry. Indeed, we're not expecting measurable snow until Thursday here. For the MGoCommunity on the eastern seaboard, stay safe, don't go out unless there's nothing else for it, and drink and stay warm in general.

Not long ago us western new Yorkers had 80 inches of snow in just a couple days and we all had fun and still worked. But when NYC or Boston get some snow everyone freaks out and goes running.

I never understood why people rush out to the grocery and stock up on all this food in preparation for these kind of things. What is the longest someone would be trapped in their house? 2 days? This isn't 1820.

wish we were getting that up here.

question:  what does 'RAGSNOWROK' mean?

be safe, have fun, drink heavily until the snow stops.

In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is a series of apocalyptic events that will define the end of the world, where giants of frost and fire will together fight the gods in a final battle that will ultimately destroy the planet, submerging it under water.

explanation.  still jealous they're getting all the snow though.  bring some of those frost and snow gods over to our place, i'll front end load them onto the kids' sledding hill.  hah, that'll teach them.
