Hey fellow bloggers. On a some what slow day asside the MBB game i thought id ask you guys a favor. I want to know what you guys are listen to to get pumped up for a big game, workout etc. I'm putting together a video about last football season and im looking for some awsome audio to add to it. Anything works.
OT pump up music
Flogging Molly (Black Friday Rule, Devil's Dance Floor) and Young Dubliners (Rocky Road to Dubline, Follow Me up to Carlow) make regular appearances for me. Also, "Shot Through the Heart and You're to Blame" is a great way to get psyched. And over "The Victors" is always the last thing I play before heading out.
I like Flogging Molly. "Drunken Lullabies" is another good one by them, it has a fast beat that pumps me up.
Fix your grammer/spelling and repost before you get ripped to shreds.
Get the fuck off my blog.
hates this song.... our 5 star Defensive tackle Ondre Pipkins seems to enjoy it.
"All These Things That I've Done" - The Killers. It really gets me in the zone.
Also, "Undead" by Hollywood Undead really gets the juices flowing, but that one might be a bit explicit for a hype.
Metallica.... "Seek and Destroy"
Scanning the scene
in the city tonight
You’re looking for blue
to start up a fight
There’s a mental defect
in your brains
But it is nothing new
we know it drives you insane
One thousand yards
way is there
Bailed us out
Seek and Destroy
Seek and Destroy
Seek and Destroy
Seek and Destroy
I listen to one song, and one song only: Seven Nation Army
"Don't Stop" by Innerpartysystem is pretty hype-y.
Roy Jones Jr. - Cant Be Touched
Wow does Roy Jones Jr go hard. Dude was a beast.
that's the funnest boxing highlights I've ever seen - dude was nasty with so much attitude. I lost $400 when I bet my heart that AA's James Toney would beat him.
In no particular order, my playlist includes:
Power- Kanye West
'Til I Collapse + Won't Back Down- Eminem
Hell's Bells- AC/DC
All of the Lights- A lot of people
For the Ohio football game, I include Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens (from Brian's 11 Swans post)
Get Up With the Sickness- DJDoYou (Mash-up song)
I have a lot more and it changes but those are a few.
Like the Muse, my personal fav is Hysteria though. Great bass line.
Also love almost anything Rise Against for pump up music.
All I want by A Day to remember would be great especially with last season. give it a listen and tell me that it doesn't scream 2011 season.
All you need is Rick Astley and you'd have the perfect playlist.
Recently I've been thinking that it would be cool to pair up some defensive highlights with Face to the Floor by Chevelle.
Doing taxes while listening to the album.
thanks this really helps alot
Your hand in mine - by Explosions in the sky.
Im shipping up to boston by dropkick murphy's
The I Love you Denard song from the other thread will now be my pump up music. It will get me through anything.
I don't necessarily choose to listen to it, but "I Burn" by Toadies seems to come up in my playlist just as I'm wanting to die (usually the 3 minute mark in my run...) and pushes me past the side-ache.
No "Possum Kingdom"??? C'mon!
I Burn is amazing live.
I Put On by Young Jeezy and Can't Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr. Always got me hyped for big games.
Two bangin songs:
Ludacris- last of a dying breed
Cyhi da prynce- top of the world
Your Touch- The Black Keys
Other good pump up songs from the Black Keys are I Got Mine and Everlasting Light. Psychotic Girl is pretty good too.
Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff!!!!
Not exactly your stereotypical pump up song, but it works for me:
Before games I would listen to a lot of pump up music a few hours or so before the game until about 20 minutes before the coach's speech and then I would switch to something more slow-paced to get me focused. Johnny Cash, Tchaikovsky, Frank Sinatra, stuff like that. I'm not someone who can go into a game yelling and pounding my chest like a gorilla, I like to be calm and focused.
At the gym its the same thing. I'd rather listen to Mozart than Metallica. Just a focus thing.
also, its a final countdown by Europe gets me going
You know, the stuff you see in commercials for movies! These are my current favorites, in rough order of priority by artist:
Mark Petrie - Richat, Virtuous
Chris Haigh - Ascend to Power, Epic Courage
Future World Music - Anthem of Courage, Gothic Messiah, Heart of Fury
Brand X Music - Bring the Pain, Extinction, Fearless, Heretic, Painkiller
Celldweller - Wings of Icarus
Two Steps from Hell - Heart of Courage, Protectors of the Earth
Where else will you get:
Dead I am the life, dig into the skin
Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win
Two Steps From Hell -- Protectors of the Earth
Bonus Michigan-Ohio hype video w/PotE:
You change your name? Did I miss something?
I'm using my real name to trick people into thinking I'm one of the cool kids.
People have already named several of my go-to tunes (Uprising & All of These Things I've done) but I can scrape up a few more, generally older stuff you may have forgotten about. Can I say Erasure? You may have to be a girl for that to work. Not sure. Same with Prince.
Don't Change by INXS
Lust for Life by Iggy pop (unless the cruise commercials ruined it for all)
London Calling by the Clash
The Underdog by Spoon
Sly by The Cat Empire
Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger
American Girl by Tom Petty
Beware of the Boys by Punjabi MC
Boys of Summer by the Ataris
Here it Goes Again by OK Go
Ready to Go by Republica
If anything could ruin "Lust for Life," it would be Jim Rome, but even he couldn't do it. When you listen to the song, it just seperates itself from all the commercial shit and you can't help but enjoy it.
I regret to say that I missed the "Hype video" part of your post and instead thought you were just looking for pump-me-up kind of music. So some of these suggestions are ridiculous in retrospect. Sorry 'bout that.
Eminem- Welcome to Detroit City
Eminem- Won't Back Down
J Cole- Blow Up
As much Chiddy Bang as I can get.
holding a bachelor of music degree, this makes me as nerd-happy as anything that's been posted on the board.

International Silver String Submarine Band;
Dick Clark gave it a 90, great to dance to...........
Better Son or Daughter (Rilo Kiley).

It's an absolute travesty that nobody has mentioned Outkast yet. Pretty much all of Stankonia works, but this is my favorite (NSFW audio):
Excellent choice. Can't help but think of when I saw them at Pine Knob. It was raining and peoplen were going crazy sliding down the muddy hill while they played this song.
It's Raining Men - Aretha Franklin or The Weather Girls
The Perfect Drug - NIN
Anything by Tool, but especially Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)/Rosetta Stoned back to back.
Bone Thugz 'n' Harmony - "Flow Motion"
Comeback Kid - "Wake the Dead", "Broadcasting..."
Have Heart - "Bostons"
Immortal Technique - "Point of No Return"
The Dear Hunter - "We've Got a Score to Settle"
Waka. Flocka. Flame.
Waka Flocka, hahaha, that dude is borderline retarded.
He might not be intelligent in any sense of the word, but the man can get amped up when he's spittin. His verse in MGK's "Wild Boy" is pretty much him screaming at the top of his lungs. He wouldn't be in the top 1,000,000,000 people I would recommend if you needed help with something, but he's in the top 10 when I need to get pumped up.
Paul Gilbert's "Scarified"
Anything Five Finger Death Punch, Children of Bodom before the game. At the last possible second Waylon Jennings
Meet the Monster!
Anything uptempo by James Brown. "The Big Payback" got repeated play before last year's Ohio game.
"Tough It Out" by Webb Wilder.
"The Clampdown" by the Clash.
And many more, while fervently hoping to never, ever, ever hear most of the generic drivel played at the stadium during the games. Why can't we come up with OUR OWN songs, and stop copying everyone else? Fergodsakes, put Journey and Neil Diamond out to pasture.

In my football playing days, i would listen to Shut 'Em Down by LL Cool J and Faint by Linkin Park in the locker room before the game.
Now days I always try to listen to Blue and Yellow (Black and Yellow Remix) by P.L. at least once on gamedays. Other than that, a little quality dubstep (Mt. Eden and/or Skrillex will do) is all it takes to get the juices flowing.
one of the best pump songs, imo
