OT: Public Notice SF86 Data Breach

Submitted by Esterhaus on

Some here - national security clearance applicants and holders - likely will now need to monitor their financial and other formally private records for the rest of their lives. According to published reports, suspected Chinese hackers have accessed and downloaded  the personally identifiable information (closely held private) for every person referenced during the SF86 disclosure process even if you weren't the submitter. This post is simply to notify every person here that if you were ever named in an SF86 application that your records are at risk. Good luck.

A quick search will tell you everything you need to know about getting a clearance and who needs one...  that info isn't even FOUO.

It's the information one receives after he or she has the clearance/need to know that we're not legally or morally authorized to discuss.

On both sides of the aisle, we have a pathetic, feckless political class. There will be no firm response. Its disgusting.

In the past two months I just completed my 5 year re-investigation and polygraph. I have not been notified yet, but my data is probably at the top of the list as it was recently submitted and stored.

I'm a bit confused by this one... reports said military members data weren't breached.  But I did have a SSBI when I was active duty.

Which is it, is my SF86 data compromised or am I safe because I wasn't a civilian?

Well, I had TSSCI when I was in the Army, and Secret in a later civilian contractor position. Good luck guessing which one I gave accurate information in, commies!

Wow.  I feel for you all affected.

I'm in the military, but I don't hold a clearance (luckily).

Unfortunately, reading through this thread is better than a movie.  Grabbin my popcorn...
