OT: PS4 vs. XBOX One

Submitted by Darker Blue on

This has probably been discussed on the board before, but its the offseason and I'm bored. And curious.

So I'm going to buy either a XBOX One, or a PS4 today. I'm leaning towards Sony, mostly due to my immense hatred of Microsoft. But maybe you can change my mind.

I'm your standard gamer. I play a lot of sports games. I like some shooters. I'm probably going to buy Watch Dogs with whatever system I do buy.

So what do you own, why do you own it, and why should I buy it?

but this generation of console was over when the consoles released. Sony got over Microsoft by going back to a less proprietary system (ps2/3 used expensive tech Sony spent tons on) in favor of a cheaper/stronger/easy PC like system more in line with both previous Xbox systems. However, they also surprised them with how much they added. Look up any non-biased developer and they flat out admit the X1 cannot do what the ps4 can do and never will. It's like asking a top end PC from 2010 equal a top end PC from a few years later. Close but it's impossible. It's no longer a case of ease of development like last gen but a genuine tech gap. Whichever you choose, know that both have admitted to this being a short console gen as gaming is inching toward "on demand" systems. Soon, we'll be buying a $50 setup that streams games. Wouldn't be shocked if it's next gen, to be honest. At least the option for it in countries with good broadband infrastructure. Have fun either way.
