things go poorly
I'm surprised he didn't say this: "Who gets paid in cash these days anyways?"
...really miss MSC.
Hope things are going well for you...
To OSU, college football, and higher learning in general. This dude is a fucking dolt and a half.
Yeah, but he's coming back next year to gain more knowledge as a human being.
probably my other favorite quote from that article about him coming back next year
"I'm playing football right now," he said unequivocally. "That's it. I was just throwing it out there. I think all the time."
Oh really, pryor, you think all the time?
Even Voltaire doesn't think all the time. Get it? Anyone? Derp....
Allegations about violating NCAA rules only come out if you're doing well, just like the allegations against Rich Rodriguez and the U of M football program. We were really kicking ass last year.
...English is a course requirement for graduating with a degree from Ohio State, right? And it has to be taken in the first couple semesters, right? Serious question.
He's OK with the ideas of guys getting paid it seems, but angry that "we" only go after the successful ones. As if it's all OK so long as you never meet the full potential you were paid for.
Very telling, and maybe introspective.
haha, I didn't even think about that. No wonder nobody is investigating Pryor for being paid.
Is Cam "a kid" or "a young man"?
Tressel really needs to keep a muzzle on that guy. Every time he speaks he says something ridiculous...
If Tressel shuts him up, then we lose some good laughs. I say, keep Pryor unplugged.
I say we suggest, in our humble opinion, that tOSU should have a reality TV crew follow him around for a season. I'd pay good money to see the results of that.
Mr. Pryor, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Okay, a simple "wrong" would have done just fine...
Billy Madison quote
If you were being sarcastic (because I can never tell), I apologize.
Why are you assuming that Pryor's family is poor? Likewise, why are you assuming that his family is too poor to afford to buy him a Sonata?
There were plenty of students at Michigan who had cars, and they weren't necessarily eating from a golden spoon (myself included). Why assume that the student-athletes are any different?
His mom works a little
He trades in his Corvette to pay for it.
I was expecting something a lot more idiotic and exciting than this.
Seriously, how in the hell is this guy maintaining the proper gpa required to play football???
That, or some girls he "befriended" in his quest to mature as a human being.
especially considering he's not a "general studies" or "kinesiology" major.
as "everybody kills people...", I am excited to use "let kids be kids" in my future mgoreplies here on the mgoboard.
I think a lot of it stems from Pryor feeling that he is also the victim of people criticizing him because they are jealous of his abilities. The ego on that kid astounds me.
of the way he can bounce a football into the ground 3 yards in front of a 5 yard completion. Elite level skills, bro.
...but it was worth the 3-9 and 5-7 seasons to not have Terelle Pryor representing the University of Michigan.
I agree with the post that you disagreed with. I know that 2008 and 2009 sucked, but would you really be as proud of your school if this tool were the face of the program? I will take Tate / Denard any day. Hell, I would take Nick Sheridan any day.
Pryor comes off as a bit of a tool, 'specially when compared to Denard.
Just about everyone comes off as a bit of a tool compared to Denard.
Can we please stop making fun of the supposedly poor English abilities of players on other teams? Every time Pryor opens his mouth he says something that makes clear that he's an idiot; let's focus on him being an idiot (i.e. what he says) than on his communication ability (i.e. how he says it).
We're on this blog celebrating one of our own players using the phrase "I be like dang" - we can't subsequently criticize Pryor's work on his research paper without looking like hypocritical douchebags. Lets leave that to the Sparty and Buckeye blogs, please.
Keep those quotes coming TP!
Only thing that would have been better had he said.
"Everyone murders, steals from you steals from me, takes money to play college football"
"I love being here and I need to develop more knowledge as a human being and not worry about money and stuff like that."
"I don't really have to worry. I can suffer another year, I just want to gain more knowledge as a human being before I leave."
"I want to have a legacy here and maybe someday get my jersey hung up. That's one of my goals here as well. I think I just have to develop my brain, develop my mind and the way I'm thinking and how I control situations."
"As I grew up and got older you have time to think a lot. I'm a big thinker and I look back at it as you're playing all these games and if you keep playing this game a long time you're going to take a lot of losses and I'm going to win a lot of games."
Clearly he has a lot on his mind. And it's only fair to point out that he's a "big thinker" in the context of football.
I'm surprised i haven't seen anyone on their soap box... well I guess I'll be that guy:
What he said wasn't that out of control, I think you guys are blowing it up and digging for more than there is. He's made worse (less coherent) comments before, yes, but leave him alone. And please stop posting his essay or whatever he wrote for class. I think it's classless, tacky, and wrong to pick on a kid's intellect, particularly by reposting something he wrote for school. (assuming it's real)
Also consider one thing: if he had chosen Michigan... would you attack his intelligence/eloquence then? I'm pretty baffled right now, to be honest. Neg away, but if you disagree, please speak up.
I agree with part of what you said - it is tacky and classless to make fun of a college kid's lack of writing ability ot even lack of intelligence. He is not a polished English writer - who cares. I would be that if you looked at the papers of half of our team, they may look the same - again, who cares.
The part that I disagree with is the part about what he said being not that out of control. There is an allegation that Cam Newton wanted to get paid to play for Auburn. If true, that is a big deal - it is one of the most serious types of recruting violations. As I read TP's comments, he was saying, "come on, leave Cam alone." Well, if Cam did what he is being accused of, why should we, the fans, the media, the NCAA or anybody leave him alone. TP is defending a kid who may have asked for pay to play. How is this ok? And, doesn't it raise the question of whether TP himself sough - or even received - some benefit in making his college selection? Not saying that it happened, but it raises a question.
Oh, and once you say, "everybody kills," you are pretty much fair game.
Fair enough. I agree the Cam situation is serious, but it seems to me that TP is sort of assuming he's innocent, and his main point is, why is this coming to light now? Now that this kid is really contributing and is in the limelight, let's bring him down." I don't necessarily agree, but my point was that it's not an "out of this world" claim. If he had said something more controversial, I'd understand the reaction in this thread, I just think people on here are overreacting and taking it way too far.
Why do trolls continue to exist on beloved Mgoblog? Why does Pryor say stupid shit? Why do wanna-be writers exaggerate the truth about "Practice Gate"? Why is our government going broke? I would like to quote Elaine Betis from Seinfeld! "I have seen the nipple on your soul!"
That this dickbag took a nice cash payment from Thee Crooked State.....
Things TP doesn't have a firm grasp on:
You know, I'm not even sure this cracks the top 5 dumbest things Pryor has said in public. I said it when they were recruiting him that I didn't think he'd fit that well at UM (I was thinking more in a football sense since he wouldn't want to be part of a rebuilding year or two), but his maturity has always been lacking. I don't wish ill will toward the kid, but I'm kind of happy that his career at OSU, barring some miraculous run next year, will be of missed opportunities and an inability to lead a loaded team to a championship.
why hasn't anyone at Ohio State told TP to stay away from anyone else with a pencil, mic or tape recorder? The best news here is that Pryor seems to want to stay for his senior season. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when he feels even more comfortable in front of the media. This can only get better and better.
Because every Michigan player would be able to get into Michigan without their football scholarship too right? Acting like Pryor is the only player in the NCAA that isn't smart is hypocritical at best. Did we just forget this happened too?
(Picture is hard to read, but it's a paper written by a UM football player, it's poor to say the least)
Evidently you have not seen the Terrelle Pryor paper.
