OT: Pryor For Heisman

According to ESPN, Pryor is "blocking out the Heisman buzz"

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5101711

Tebow's Heisman: 32PassTD 6INT 23RushTD 66.9C%
Bradford's Heisman: 50PassTD 8INT 5RushTD 67.9C%
Pryor last season: 18PassTD 11INT 6RushTD 56.6C%

I wonder if its because he needs to add about 20 more total TDs or because he needs to increase his completion percentage by over 10% to even sniff Tebow/Bradford

Sure, tO$U is going to be good next season...and yeah, Pryor is bound to improve...

but let me be the first to say "I'm not buying it"

edit: added a couple more:
Troy Smith: 30PassTD 6INT 1RushTD 65.3C%
Matt Leinart 33PassTD 6INT 3RushTD 63.4C%
Jason White 40PassTD 10INT 1RushTD 67.9C%
Carson Palmer 33PassTD 10INT 4RushTD 63.2C%
Average 34PassTd 8INT 2RushTD 65.0C%
TP would still need to improve 16PassTD and 9C%

Troy Smith tossed 12 TD's to four INTs in '05...

...then 30+ scores in 2006.

This is because Tressel has two offenses. The Type 1 offense has been prevelant throughout his Columbus tenure: run the ball, play action, field position, let the defense do their thang. Sometimes, he'll tantalize by throwing a big play in here and there.

The Type 2 offense occurs with an upperclassman QB, veteran blocking, and top notch skill players: KILL KILL KILL mode. Big plays in the pass game and a strong runningback tandem. This is when Tressel gives his O the green light to go nuts. Smith's senior season was an example.

More than anything, I'm curious to see if Tressel will take the chains off this fall (I'm betting he will).

I remember thinking the same thing about Vince Young when in saw him play UM at the Rose Bowl. He had all the physical tools, but seemed to be missing something upstairs.

Then he put it all together, won the Heisman, beat USC, and made Leinart look dumb for not leaving as the consensus #1 pick.

**Hooray for his sanity**

That being said, his mental health is still up for debate after the stories about his car rides, guns, and possibly suicidal thoughts.

So what does this all mean?

Basically, if Pryor can put it all together mentally we might be looking at the next Vince Young (college). If he can't we might be looking at the next Vince Young (pros)

I kind of like Jacquizz Rogers out at Oregon State. He and his brother are basically the entire offense out there.

Not to be critical of anyone here, but am I the only one that feels ripping on Pryor is akin to Sparty ripping on Mike Hart? Bottom line is Pryor is 2-0 against us with a 63-17 scoring advantage. I can't stand the kid either, but right now he owns us.

When Pryor is the major reason OSU beats us, then it will be similar. Or when he gets to over 100 rushes and nearly 700 yards (Mike Hart's 4 year numbers vs MSU) against us. One of the two.

I think after he shows that Heisman talk is clearly not warranted, Pryor for Heisman shirts would be a good idea for M fans. Maybe even before if we can in some way put added pressure on an underachiever.

Edit: I would also add that the success of lack thereof for tOSU will be determined by their defense rather than TP and the sweater vest offense.
