OT: Presidents Cup (golf)

Submitted by MGoBlue22 on
The U.S. has a 3.5 to 2.5 point lead over the International team after the opening session of play of the Presidents Cup. Seeing as the U.S. fairs a lot better in this event than the Ryder Cup, is anyone surprised by the lack of promotional coverage it is getting (especially with it being held in San Fran this year)? I mean, pretty much the only "front page" story concerning the event involved Michael Jordan and his cigar smoking violation.

I was surprised that the Golf channel was the channel that covered it, but Day One was fun to watch. It will not be as exciting as the Ryder Cup, because the Europeans hate us a lot more in the Ryder Cup. It is some good golf though. I did think ESPN might pick it up, because they do not have anything else on.

compared to the overhyping the Ryder Cup gets. This tims of the year, its just hard for golf to stand out. The majors are over, you had your "world championship" of golf two weeks ago........now you're going up against the NFL, college football, the baseball playoffs starting, NHL season starting, and NBA winding up pre-season games, and NASCARS chase for the cup. golf, is pretty low on that priority list for covering sports.
