Apologies for breaking the in season OT rule, but this seemed too good to pass up. A little comic relief after this weekend from our favorite head coach.
No making fun of the verbally challenged.
Honestly, I don't feel too bad if people mock his speech impediment, because he's chosen a line of work that requires him to speak in front of a camera. He probably could have just stayed retired on his South Carolina/ND money.
That wasn't my intent - it's more making fun of how he spazzes out and knocks the podium over
well that is certainly ok then - carry on
Do you mean hith speech impediment?
Thufferin thuccotash, that wascawy wabbit!!
Not at all. Just making fun of idiocy.
"Thath not an ackUH!! Thhha hell withhhh it"
That got uncomfortable
laugh and facial expression after Lou pushes over the podium is priceless!
Well, in the dialogue, I do know there was something in there about him meaning it "thintherly," and I also believe there may have been some about "thufferin' thuccotash."
What's it like to give off the subtle vibe that you are a complete and utter creep? Your passion for this topic is well intended but hopelessly misdirected. Clearly I've indirectly offended you. Well, my humor is my own and is by no means subject to your or anyone else's approval, but for offending you, I sincerely apologize.
Honestly though, you are absolutely dreadful at trying to prove your point and you honestly do come off as a snotty little child. Here's to hoping when we cross paths on this blog again, it will be under more civil circumstances.
Fine ... I'm an utter creep ... I'm a child ... I'm misdirected. I can live with those insults. Those are fair insults in light of our debate. Certainly, leaps and bounds more fair than the insult that started this debate. Yes, I hate it when people ridicule those with birth defects. Everyone has their thing -- making fun of birth defects is at the top of my list If you're a parent, you probably get it. If that's misdirection, consider me off course.
Frankly, at this point, all I care about is that you have a moment's pause the next time you consider ridiculing someone's birth defect. If you pause for a second, but still proceed forward anyway, I'll even take that.
... until we meet again.
Every year I wonder if itll be Lou Holtz' last year (with ESPN, not last year living)
I say the same thing about Digger Phelps. And that College Gameday theme song.
When normal people lose their minds, they become crazy.
So when Holtz loses his mind, does he become normal?
Here's Awful Announcing's bit on this little drama - HERE
I actually think they asked the right question regarding the larger problem with this segment:
"Here's the real question - does anybody at ESPN think this is good television or makes the network look good? Watching a 76 year old man throw a temper tantrum like a child seven decades his younger after a pretend trial?"
Can someone imbed, can't see on I phone
In a cell phone. What's going on with Lous
Help! I'm in a cell phone! How did I get into this cell phone? Look at the size of this bloody great big cell phone! What sort of cell phone has a case like this? This is crazy!
It's all shtick, it's all an act. Here we are talking about it at 9:00 PM on a Monday. Those guys and their network are laughing all the way to the bank.
I have no problem with their little routine. I find it mildly amusing after a full day of CFB games. But I would never take it seriously enough to actually care what they say.
ESPN announces Eminem to join the May/Holtz pairing to boost sagging ratings.
if we are getting our jollies over this weak sauce.
But I like Lou Holtz.
of the cool people are coming to your party.
I hate u
I don't like your opinion AND your username is too damn long!
I was not aware anyone watched espn until the ball was Tee'd up and assumed they switched as soon as player and coach interviews were over. In fact, thanks for reminding me. I have Direct so I only pay for the BTN during fb season, and everytime I return back home after the spring, I forget to call and have my espn removed. I'm paying for that sucker for about 8 weeks-taking off in the middle of November now that's I've found the sports bars I need- of use. Probably good for you guys that still watch the pro game or stay in the cold for winter to have. Not sure how many games of importance are covered by them. Like I said, able to watch games of importance in Mexico every winter so no need for me to have it in the home except for those first two months of cfb.
Got a much needed laugh. Lou is on his way out I'm afraid. Time for retirement.
I hope none of you actually watch Corso and Holtz for serious college football discussion at this point. They're hilarious because they're old and crazy. That's it. I'll be sad when they're not on ESPN anymore. Then we'll just get more David Pollacks and Jesse Palmers. Blech.
what the world needs - more 28-33 year old white dudes with Fauxhawks and False Cowlicks that over-elaborate every. single. point. with. their. hands,
to make fun of Lou Holtz's speech impediment, but, for whatever reason, you're the straw that broke the camel's back in my mind. What gives you, or anyone for that matter, the right to act like a 4-year-old, and ridicule someone's speaking disorder?
Let me ask you this ... do you think there might be some parent's on this blog who have children with some form of speech impediment? These are your fellow die-hard Michigan fans on this blog. The same people you hug and high-five at games like UTL2. How do you think it makes them feel when low-lifes take cheap shots at someone with a lisp? Do you think it may break their heart that their own children might suffer the same type of ridicule.
This isn't 11W with daily Hoke weight jokes. This isn't RCMB with utter ignorance creeping from every thread.
What's even more pathetic is that there so much ammo to make fun of Lou Holtz without going pre-schooler. It makes you look dumb, lazy and ignorant.
Here's a pop quiz ... which Michigan player was born with a speech impediment? Would you make fun of his impediment to his face, or do you just make fun of a senior citizens over the internet ... Mr. Internet Tough Guy?
People like you remind me of Mauricio from Shallow Hal -- so quick to ridicule everyone else, when you're the one with the jackass tail.
Just stop. Be better. Be creative. Be original, fergodsakes! Be anything other than someone who makes a parent sad.
Unfortunately I have no faith that the children will understand your point. I would also like to punch anyone I hear use the "red-headed step-child" reference.
So you're a ginger?
There's no reason to just not say certain things because it might offend someone. That's the definition of political correctness.
Welp, a couple days ago, you made a comment that was jokingly along the lines of being happy you blacked out for a bit due to alcohol. Well, true story a friend of mine in from middle school died in an accident a little later in life due to a drunk driver who probably thought blacking out was fun too. You are a moronic, ignorant child for glorifying and making a joke out of binge drinking. It ruins so many lives on a tragically regular basis.
That was a buzzkill and pretty uncalled for, especially when what you said was clearly in jest, huh? (BTW, I honestly have no issue with anyone drinking one too many, as long as driving or important decision making isn't a part of the plan)
In comedy / humor, there's no such thing as a joke or topic that doesn't offend someone. For every 1 joke that personally may offend you, there are a 100 that don't, because those other 100 jokes are offending someone else. So to get on someone else's case and draft a 5 page long essay because a joke, not meant maliciously, struck a nerve with you, makes you the more childish one in this situation. To calmly bring awareness to a condition such a speech impediment is one thing that would've been appropriate, to attack someone over it lke you did is not.
If there was the slightest undertone of malice in the post you replied to, than it would be a different story. But there wasn't. Learn the difference between a topic worth fighting for and a statement made in good fun that was in no ways meant to be derogatory. Besides, this is a message board on blog where a lot people go to just relax, blow off some steam and shoot the shit, not a workplace or a school. 100% full and strict P.C. compliance is not only voluntary, it is a buzzkill and for the most part is probably discouraged.
The poster wrote "Lou Holtz 4 Prethident." You're so quick to respond with your own 5-page diatribe, that you completely missed the point. It's ironic considering your avatar is Charlie Kelley, a character in a show that brilliantly understands the difference between dark humor and pre-school humor. "Sunny" is about as un-PC as it gets, and I love it, because it's witty, original and risque. You idolize a show you don't even understand.
If you think "Lou Holtz 4 Prethident" is somehow funny, then you sir, are the 1 in a hundred, not me. Seriously, next time Holtz is on TV, say that line to the room. See how many laughs you get.
You also falsify past posts to justify your little fake strawman argument playing out here. This destroys any credibility you might have. When I write postgame on Saturday, in essense, thank you to bourbon for allowing me to forget the Akron game, you fabricate it into some notion that a joke was made about binge drinking. That's just flat out dishonesty, which is the worst character flaw of all.
I agree ... the post was not malicious. It was lazy. It lacked creativity, as Holtz lisp jokes are 20 years old. The post insulted for the sake of nothing but the insult. It's what they do on 11W and RCMB. They write, "Hoke is fat." They write, "Denard throws like a girl." They write this crap over and over. These people watch Beevis and Butthead reruns, I swear. You want to be around those people? Have at it!
Keep convincing yourself this is about being PC or not PC. That's a strawman argument with yourself that you will win everytime. Just answer me this -- the Michigan senior who grew up with a speech impediment -- would you say he should run 4 prethident to his face? In a million years you wouldn't, internet tough guy. Just hide behind your keyboard, and keep searching for the backbone that isn't there.
Jesus christ man, do you really not see the irony in how you are presenting yourself? You continually attack people. I'm the second person who you said is an "an internet tough guy hiding behind my keyboard," and you attack my ability to comprehend and reason when you know absolutely nothing about me.
Are a few of your points valid? Yeah. But despite their validity, they fall on deaf ears because you come off as a pretentious asshat who sounds more interested in hearing himself talk and attempt to passive agressively insult others as valid tool to help prove your point. I you had just come out like an adult and just enlightened everyone to Washington's struggle without attacking the intelligence of people you don't know, it would've been infinitely more effective.
You are very confused at what a spineless bully "hiding behind their keyboard" looks like. They actually look at a lot like your last post.
In light of your posts on this thread, I think everyone, including me, now knows a little something about you.
Thanks for acknowledging my point that an insult for the sake of the insult is valid. Thanks for acknowleging Q-Wash's struggle. It looks like the lesson sank in for a grand total of 90 minutes before you reverted to your preschool days and made another Lou Holtz lisp joke in this thread.
If writing that "Lou Holtz 4 prethident" is a unoriginal, uncreative and lazy insult, then yes, I am a pretentious asshat. I'll wear that title with pride. If pwning your faux-anti-PC justification for making RCMBesque-internet-insults makes me spineless bully, then yes, I am a spineless bully.
I guess I failed in my response in one respect. I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive ... I was trying to be just plain aggressive, which, makes me the internet tough guy. Because, when you think about it, what screams internet tough guy more than a person who calls out people who mindlessly ridicule those with birth defects?
As long as he didn't get behind the wheel, this post is nonsensical. Cut the anti-PC crap. Not making fun of people who are born with conditions isn't being overly sensitive -- it's being a decent human being.
