This is in all ways bad and I'm betting that we're in for a long season next year if one of the important components to last year's awful offense is going away and definite possibilities for losing more players exists. Can't wait til after next season when most of those bad contracts come off the books. Totally understand the Polanco decision. Need to get younger and Sizemore deserves a shot. I'm curious to see what happens with Everett now. He will probably cost more money than he did when we signed him last offseason because there are no longer any questions concerning injuries. Probably around 3-4 mil. a year for him. Worth it? Not sure. But we really have no other options, unless they're willing to use SS by committee with Santiago and Dlugach - who we have no idea how he'll perform.

LOL @ Polanco's new contract. That's going to look ugly real quick. Polanco was a solid player for Detroit and I'm grateful for what he contributed to the organization. That said, he's old and declining. He has no range in the field. The Tigers couldn't afford to offer him salary arbitration; had he been awarded $9M and accepted, the Tigers would be screwed. I'm excited to see Sizemore. My two favorite prospects the past couple years were Avila and Sizemore. Got Avila this year and now Sizemore next year. Yay! Also agree with those excited for the next offseason. With Mags, Bondo, Willis, and Robertson coming off the books, that's $52.5M coming off the books. Enough to get payroll down to where they want it AND give them room to sign a good free agent or two. I'm really hoping they hold onto Granderson though.
