OT- Pistons win again. 9 of their last 10. Only 2 1/2 games out.
The Pistons beat the Raptors, who were tied for the 2nd best record in the east going into this game.
Brandon Jennings had 34 points and 10 assists. KCP hit 2 clutch free throws and Jennings had a steal to seal the 114-111 W.
They are now only 2 1/2 games out of the playoff hunt in the east.
Edit: Brooklyn just lost. The Pistons are now only 2 games out.

Whatever, we're all bandwagon Piston fans in some capacity but it feels fun to cheer for them again. If you are one of the handful of fans who've been on the bus this whole time eagerly watching every game for the past 7 years, congratulations. Now move your ass over a bit because me and a whole lot of other fans are jumping back on. Deal with it.

Josh Smith really was a horrible influence on this team, apparently.

The Pistons last 3 wins have been against San Antonio, Dallas, and Toronto, all on the road. So let it be said that they've been beating some really good teams. I don't think this is just a fluke or a hot streak.

Josh Smith is sooooooo horrible. Hahaha he should be embarrassed. Jennings had 34 pts 10assists. He's been so much better since Smith left.
January 13th, 2015 at 12:32 AM ^
Jennings was every bit as disappointing (and selfish) as Smith, but not since Smith was released. I'm not sure why there is a correlation, but there clearly is.
I just love the almost college-like enthusiasm the Pistons are playing with.

led by jennings has been ridunculous. do yourself a favor and check out the last few box scores (jennings + augustin). they typically add to 48 min.

I feel like they were 3 games out when the streak was at 5 or 6.
Nonetheless, obvious addition by subtraction...they have some very solid talent and Smith was pushing people out of position and taking minutes/shots. It's kind of simple.
I'd love to see them keep Monroe and get a star TRUE SF to add to this group.

had a SF who could blend into the offense, hit 35%-40% of his threes and play above average D. Would love a guy like Afflalo or Wes Matthews, even if both more are more natural SGs.
January 12th, 2015 at 10:23 PM ^
They are undoubtedly going to target Danny Green of the Spurs in free agency to address that issue.

Fits perfectly.

He along with the SFs currently on the team would be a nice mix, IMO.

I'm so sick of of these talentless volume shooters these days. You can score 20 to 30 points a game, but if you need 30 shots to do so then that's nothing to be proud of

Seriously though, they are hot as hell, and this doesn't feel flukey, based on the stats. Without Josh "I invented high volume low efficiency" Smith, they're able to spread it around better, utilize the young talent, and let the army of double double machines do their thing. I hope they keep Drummond and Monroe forever.

A bit OT, but the Knicks have pulled off the Reverse '84 Tigers. They're 5-35.
January 12th, 2015 at 11:02 PM ^
They'll be the reverse '97 bulls at 10-72.

Just for me, the suddent chemistry change on this team with the removal of one Josh Smith has simply been amazing, and I realize that most problems like those of the Pistons are dynamic in nature, but the turnaround and its nature have made the last few weeks rather fun. Actually, it has made it so to a point where if things go amiss at work, the group may convene and waive Josh Smith to see if that helps.
