really can't either. He is a volume shooting point guard and that is great when he is on but catastrophic when he isn't. He only goes 100% once in a while also. We are seeing why OKC was never in love with him despite his ability.

I would do anything to get Minnesota's 1st round pick. For instance Reggie plus KCP for Rubio and their 1st would be beautiful. Would give us two 1st round lotto picks in an absolutely loaded draft.

Rubio as a player, atrocious field goal percentages from 2 and 3, but nice assist to turnover ratio and hopefully Stan can mold him. Problem is the SVG system is better suited for a scoring PG. At 26 it is getting a little late for him in NBA years to reach his apex, by 27-28 you pretty much are who you are.

I would only be interested in making a deal in a package that obtains their first round pick, and I'm willing to give up anyone not named Andre Drummond.

sounds awesome, but I don't think Minny would be down, even though I think their starting lineup of Reggie-Lavine-Wiggins-Dieng-KAT with KCP, Dunn, and Shabazz is pretty good. However, if Minny keeps up their current record, they'd have a shot at one of the top 5 players in the upcoming draft (Fultz, Smith, Ball, Tatum, Jackson), all of whom would immediately make their future even brighter than it already is. For Detroit, thats a great deal, espeically because this group of players doesn't seem to be working, but for Minny they probably prefer the latter scenario since they are apparently sold on the potential of Dunn.

the Pistons don't have to pay KCP like he's Klay Thompson and lose the rest of Reggie's contract for someone who is not quite as good but only has 2 years on their contract left. I love KCP, but I think I'd rather take a chance to see if I could get a top 5 pick in this year's draft, I think Fultz is incredible and the other guys have enough potential to become superstars. The way the team is currently constructed, Drummond has to become young Dwight Howard 2.0 and he's simply not a good enough defender for that to be realistic. On top of that, they need better shooters at every other position to compete in the modern NBA, and I don't think any of the guys they have now will be able to raise their percentage enough to be worth keeping. I was excited about the team after last season, but times have already changed so much. If your team doesn't have a superstar, you need to play lockdown defense like Utah, but the Pistons don't seem to be capable of doing so.

Exactly, right now the team's ceiling is probably 1st round exit in the playoffs. The trade makes us worse in the short term, but gives us 2 lotto picks and a shot at a higher ceiling long term.

You get out of giving KCP a huge deal, and if Rubio doesn't pan out he's off the books in 2 years.

It's a drastic move but I think it's pretty clear this team really doesn't have any potential to contend for a title as currently constructed, so why not roll the dice.

Id be happy just to get Reggie and his contract off this team. I don't really care who we get in return. Reggie plays no defense, bogs the offense down by holding the ball too long, takes horrible shots, & spends at least half of every game pouting and whining.

This team was playing better ball with the combo of Ish and Udrih at PG. That right there is very telling. Give us Rubio. Give us anyone. Just go away Reggie.

I'm over Reggie and I'm a fan of Rubio. I was hoping to get him this offseason for something like Baynes and our 1st.
I'm not sure if this roster has enough shooters to pardon Ricky's sub .400 as a starter.

You're right, this certainly would not help the spacing issue as Rubio shoots even worse than Reggie. But at the end of the day this may be a situation of addition by subtraction. I think Reggie has lost the confidence of his teammates and just doesn't play winning basketball.

Not to mention we still owe him just about 60 million over the next 3 years. This season is pretty much a wash. Yes the Pistons could still get in the playoffs as a 7-8 seed but I think planning towards next year, and beyond, is the smart move; even if it is at the expense of the remainder of this season.

Jackson can't shoot either. For his career he's only better by 1.1% from three.
It's largely a lateral move. They're even the same age. Rubio is better defensively and more of a floor general and it seems that Reggie is wearing out his welcome on another team (Thunder being the first).
Van Gundy has had his best seasons with Shaq and Dwight Howard at C; as long as Drummond is rebounding at a league leading clip, he's prototype.
We need better shooters and going into the season I was praying that it'd come from KCP.

Where a change for change's sake is a good thing. This team and product is just so stale. It would be nice to get some fresh blood in the system and maybe he can offer some unique ability to this team.

The team around him has been nothing short of garbage for his whole career.

Quite honestly, I think his style just doesn't fit what Stan does. If some crap organization needs a guy who can go out and be super flashy, that's Reggie. He does a lot of spectacular stuff, but he's also a me-first PG.

Change of scenery can really help some players' careers. May be the case for Rubio. This organization is just so incredibly stale and it needs to be shaken up. Personally, I want them to suck big time to get a top 5 pick, but that will never happen.
